Hi Renee, Thank you for your informations. You have definitively notice the marriage date of Antonio and Lucie (1949) was AFTER the marriage date of their daughter Bernadette (1943). Maybe when we could read the original register in Longueuil on the 26 Feb. 1949 we could understand what is the status of Antonio and Lucie regarding Bernadette. The only possible explanation I could think of the real family association between Antonio and Lucie being the real parents to Bernadette, is if they had Bernadette out of wedlock and that after Lucie being a widow, they married together and recognize Bernadette as being their official daughter. Again, it would be interesting to read the register at Bernadette marriage in Longueuil on July 3rd 1943. Is that possible? They had a daughter Bernadette Leblanc who was married to Arthur Laplante on July 3rd 1943 in Parish St-Joseph in Montréal, Quebec. Cheers Florent de Napierville
There is also the possibility that they married earlier in a non-Catholic setting and had the marriage blessed years later. Another thought is that the priest or transcriber made a glaring error in the year of the marriage. From the marriage of his parents Antonio had to have been born no later than 1911. Both parents were of major age at their marriage in 1881. According to the 1901 census, Antonio was born 7 Mar 1896. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=79391&highlight=13&desc=1901+Census+of+Canada+page+containing+Hormidas+Leblanc at genealogiequebec: Marriage Registration 1949: Antonio, celebetaire, b 7 Mar 1896, m Luce, Veuve b 10 Feb 1901. " 1943 marriage: Bernadette Leblanc age 18 at 1943 marriage =b 1925 - no parents mentioned on the registration. So the mystery deepens. You need some great-great aunts & uncles to help find out "the rest of the story".
