Looking at Tanguay I just realized that Jacques Gerbert and Marie Pelletier are the parents of 2 Joseph's one born 1695 and the other 1699. Now HOW did Tanguay decide which one was married to whom? As it stand I have them with the wrong wife. I know parents would give another child the name of a former child, but that is usually when the first one died.   Any explanation would be appreciated Selma

"Les Grandes Familles" shows the following: 1) - Joseph n 30-01 b 01-12-1695 Cap-St-Ignace s/o Jacques Gerbert (Mathurin & Élisabeth Targer) & Marie Pelletier (Jean & Anne Langlois); he married 21-09-1718 Rivière-Ouelle to Catherine Gagnon (Jacques & Marie-Madeleine Rocheron)and they had 10 children. 2) - Joseph n b 17-05-1699 Cap-St-Ignace s/o Jacques Gerbert & Marie Pelletier; he d 01 s 02-02-1756 Cap-St-Ignace. This Joseph married 19-10-1722 Boucherville (ct 18-10-1722 Tailhandier) to Marguerite Aubertin (Jean & Claire-Françoise Gauthier) and they had 17 children. Quite possibly each of the above Josephs had a second name which was not recorded but may show up in each of their marriage records.
