Hello everyone, The list is very interesting. What roles did they play in the war? They appear varied but as you said, "most of them never left Quebec." From what I gather, the Americans came to Canada for aid. The government was cracking down on them. Some of the people of Quebec gave them food and shelter. Some of them joined the war? It took me hours to go through the family tree looking for names and I came across three in my tree: Augustin Blais, Laurent Audet and his brother-in-law Louis Columbe. Maybe I'll just have to order the book to find out exactly what they did. ha ha Jesse -----Original Message----- From: quebec-research <quebec-research@rootsweb.com> To: QUEBEC-RESEARCH <QUEBEC-RESEARCH@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, Jul 12, 2014 4:41 pm Subject: [Q-R] Index to French Canadian Revolutionary War Patriots Some of you may be interested in this index of over 500 French Canadian Revolutionary War patriots from Quebec that appear in the Baby, Taschereau, and Williams journal written in 1776. If you find your ancestors in the index and you would like to know what they did, I'm happy to tell you. However, the book "Quebec During the American Invasion 1775-1776," which is the English translation of the BTW journal written in 1776, is very interesting and well worth the money. Jesse - The journal states "Laurent Audet dit Lapointe and Louis Colombe went to the rebels' (Americans') camp this winter and always praised their actions. They played a significant role in last fall's rebellion. At that time, they stood guard in front of the church and at Trou St Patry. They convinced the habitants to follow their example, fearing, so they claimed, that the town's garrison would come to burn their parish." Augustin Blais (1749-p1804), son of Augustin, is simply noted as a "bad subject" by the British (which means he supported the Americans.)
