    2. My great grandmother was named Effie Amanda Palmer, born in Wisconsin in 1866. I believe her given name was Effie, as even the marriage record lists her as Effie A. Palmer, marrying Clarence W. Gibbs in 1890. And one of her grandaughters was named for her (Ferne Effie Gibbs). cheers, Christina Gibbs On Mon, Jul 14, 2014 at 5:33 PM, Fran LaChance <quebec-research@rootsweb.com > wrote: > Hi all > > Can someone give me suggestions of what names Effie might be a derivative? > Boogles my > mind and I can think of nothing that sounds right. > > Thanks a bunch > > Fran L > > > > --- > This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! 2. Hello Fran, You don't say whether this is a male or a female. Effie, for a female is usually the straight line diminutive for Ephigenie and Euphemia (as in Effie Gray). But diminutive are not always straight forward, are they ? The less usual names it can be used for are Stephanie, Francis, Francesca, and a few Greek (Elephtheria, comes to mind...) or Italian names...
