There was a baptism at St. Pierre parish, in Sorel, of Pierre Rancourt on 13 Sep 1823, born the same day, son of Charles Rancourt, day worker in this parish, and Catherine Lachance. Are the parents the same couple as Charles 'Rancour' and Catherine Lachance who married on 20 Oct 1806 at St-François-de-Beauce? Or are they a different family? Al Poulin
Al; in the Drouin at genealogiequebec there is only one couple Charles Rancourt and Catherine Lachance m 1806/ and Pierre 1823 is attributed to them. The last marriage of their children in Quebec is 1836: Bernard (residing in Boston Diocese, MA) & Ursule Caron, so perhaps they moved to Maine shortly after that. There are 3 Charles Rancourt in that time frame, but each with different spouses/parents, so Pierre belongs to them along with several siblings. If you need siblings let me know. Hi Fran: My thanks to you and others in related threads for showing that, at least in the written records, only Charles Rancourt and Catherine Lachance had a son Pierre who might have married in Waterville, Maine ca. 1851. You offered to name siblings of Pierre, son of Charles Rancourt and Catherine Lachance. It so happens that Pierre fits nicely in a gap between two groups of siblings. To compare notes with names and dates of birth: Delphine 20 Nov 1807 Ambroise 27 Aug 1809 M.-Basilisse 28 Mar 1812 Bernard 19 Jul 1814 Chrysostome 12 Jan 1817 Pierre 13 Sep 1823 Marcel 27 Oct 1829 Domitilde 6 Sep 1833 Al Poulin On Apr 7, 2014, at 6:52 PM, Fran LaChance wrote: > > Al; > > in the Drouin at genealogiequebec there is only one couple Charles Rancourt and Catherine Lachance m 1806/ and Pierre 1823 is attributed to them. PS: on none of the records does it mention anything about Charles being in the military, he is mentioned as 'cultivateur' & 'journalier'. He was a minor at the marriage.
