Peggy, I learned something interesting, yesterday, while speaking to members of the Vermont French Canadian Genealogical Society. The marriage license was cheaper and easier to obtain in Vermont and New York states than it was in Quebec, so many couples from Quebec crossed the border to get married and then went back to Quebec. I have never been able to find the marriage of my gg grandparents and there is talk that they married in Rouses Point, NY in 1831 even though they lived in Quebec, near to the border. Hart could have been spelled as Hert or Herdt or Herte. Was St. Patrick's there in 1831? They were married in either March or September and it would make my day if I was able to get their marriage.thank you > Peggy
