on C: drive Programs (x86) [or not] - find the FTM icon and right click on it - click on "troubleshoot compatibility" and follow instructions. Hi! Fran, well I did all of that including trouble shooting, the program was scanned and I’m still getting the message “a generic error occurred”. That will come on after the search and before it copies to CD. I did contact FTM people and they told me that a new version of FTM will do the trick. I have version 16 and all the “free updates to 18” are for version 17 only. Thank you for your help.
