Did Charles Rancourt and Louise Germain dite Belisle who married in Trois-Rivières 3 Feb 1806 have a son named Pierre? If so, what happened to this family? They had several children, at least one who died in infancy, and Edouard Rancour who married in Trois-Rivières on 8 Oct 1832 with parents "of this parish" who were not given as present. Several records mention Charles as a soldier. He was originally from St.-François-de-Beauce. In Canada, I have found no marriage record for Pierre, nor death records for this family. In Maine, the 1860 Federal census of Waterville, Maine places an elderly Charles (age 94?) in the home of 'Peter Ranco,' age 41. On 13 Oct 1865 in Waterville, Pierre Rancourt had son Louis-Jos. whose godfather Louis Rancourt was the nephew of the same Charles Rancourt who had married Louise Germain. These two records suggest, but do not prove, that Pierre was the son of this Charles. Al Poulin
There is a church record at Family Search https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-28002-9717-80?cc=1321742&wc=MH1S-JMH:17585101,19508101,27923701 I can clearly see "Louise", but can't quite decipher the regiment name. Good luck. Germain, at age of nine months, as seen in Amazon. com (from Drouin). I find no entry at Familysearch. Is an image from the original register kept at the parish available? Does it clearly indicate the name of the "régiment Canadien"? Perhaps "Fencible."? What is the mother's name? Do you actually see "Louise"? Thanks for any help on this. There was a baptism at St. Pierre parish, in Sorel, of Pierre Rancourt on 13 Sep 1823, born the same day, son of Charles Rancourt, day worker in this parish, and Catherine Lachance. Are the parents the same couple as Charles 'Rancour' and Catherine Lachance who married on 20 Oct 1806 at St-François-de-Beauce? Or are they a different family? Al Poulin
Rumor has it that someone possibly named John Leware was born in Trois Rivieres to Sidney and Mary Hans in 1817. Can anyone verify that? Regards, Unc
