    1. [Q-R] Batavia cemetery gravestones vandalized
    2. BATAVIA, N.Y. -- Police in Genesee County are looking for vandals who overturned more than two dozen headstones in a Batavia cemetery. The superintendent of Elmwood Cemetery, which is located on Harvester Avenue, says he believes the damage took place two weekends ago. In 2006, three teenage girls were arrested for toppling 80 headstones in that same cemetery. ( I did this cemetery last year and it was beautiful, also where they had a large bronze statue of the Angel of Death, a female. Best, Bill ) Glad I got to see it before this recent vandalism.

    1. [Q-R] April 18
    2. April 18--Paul Revere Day---U.S.A. At about 10 p.m. on this day in 1775, three men took to their horses to ride from Boston to Concord, MA to warn the citizens of the approaching British army. Most of us know of just one of those riders, one Paul Revere. The famous poem, _Paul Revere’s Ride_ (http://440.com/twtd/dxlnkgo1.html) by _Henry Wadsworth Longfellow_ (http://440.com/twtd/dxlnkgo2.html) , glorified the Bostonian as the lone rider. He was, in fact, accompanied by William Dawes and Samuel Prescott. We think it’s time they should get some recognition too! After all, it wasn’ t their fault that their partner in the midnight ride was already well known, having been a member of the Sons of Liberty; incited the British by publishing an engraving of the Boston Massacre; carried messages for the Committees of Correspondence, an underground organization; and having been a participant in the Boston Tea Party. Incidentally, only Prescott made it all the way to Concord. Revere was nabbed by a British cavalry patrol near Lexington, MA (Dawes and Prescott escaped). We’re not sure what happened to Dawes but Revere was released and returned to Lexington -- without his horse. There was lots of running/riding around that night, but suffice to say, when British forces arrived in Lexington, they found the minutemen waiting for them. In honor of this midnight ride, get out your Revereware and make a pot of tea.

You bring about a sense of "peace" with your "haunting" and "cryptic" tales. When there isn't a "ghost" of a chance you manage to "lay to rest" our fears. 1. [Q-R] Moses Wagner
    2. MK
    3. LDS site, www.familysearch.org, under Vermont, Vital Records 1760- has Moses' death as 22 AUG 1904, at Cambridge, VT, age 93, born canada. Cambridge is in Lamoille County, VT. Parents listed as "unknown". GenealogyBank (newspaper archives) has this notice in the St. Albans Daily Messenger ( just 2 days before the death record that I found): Jeffersonville (this is in Lamoille County) Date: Saturday, August 20, 1904, Page 6 Location: St. Albans, Vermont Paper: St. Albans Daily Messenger "Moses Wagner is critically ill". I didn't find an obituary for him on GenealogyBank. If you email the Vermont Dept. of Libraries, they can look for an obituary for you. They have many newspapers on microfilm. If you send an obituary request to them, tell them Moses died 8-22-1904 at Cambridge, VT, and they will know what paper to look in. This is free of charge. The obit might give you more information (possibility). In the 1900 U.S. Census, Moses is living in Cambridge, VT, with his daughter, Mary Bornor (head of household is Joseph Borner). This gives Moses' birth as May 1822. On LDS, there are records of a Moses Wagner with wife Angelina (no surname for her). Good luck!
