    1. [Q-R] Sebastien Provencher, marriage record
    2. I would like to verify the information that I have for Sebastien Provencher, b. 1628 and Marquerite Manchon born in some unknown year, in France. They were married on Jan 22, 1663, in Becancour, Quebec, Canada. I also descend from Sebastien through his second wife Marie Catherine Guillet, b. unknown. She married Sebastien in a double marriage ceremony with his son Sebastien at Cap-de-la-Madeleine on May 14, 1691. I could not find Sebastien's first marriage as the index didn't go back that far in Family Search. I was wondering if the marriage could be verified. This is all the information that I have for Sebastien's father Toussant Provencher wasborn after 1550 in France Thank you, Mary Boudreau

    3. The only Bergeron showing up for 9 Sept 1823 at St-Gregoire was the burial of Olivier Bergeron, age 15 months, s/o Francois Bergeron & Madeleine Cyr. Also looked at St-Jean-Baptiste parish in Nicolet for that date but nothing for Cyrille. Saw an entry in Rootsweb World Connect for 9 Sept 1821 at St. Gregoire but nothing there when I looked. Seems a lot of incorrect info has been duplicated. His parents were Joseph Bergeron and Pelagie Lesieur-Desaulniers. The information that I have says he was born 9 Sept 1823 at Becancour but I don't have proof and that is what I am looking for. I have searched the parish records for St-Gregoire and can't find it there. I find his siblings that were born before him; being Joseph, Jerome, Marguerite, Uldoric, Narcisse. Born after Cyrille are Eulalie (also said to be born in Becancour but ??), Mathilda, John, Moses and Louis, who I have no clue about. Thank you for any and all help. 3. It seems to me that the 1851 census « I found a 35 yr old Emilie living with Jean Baptiste Bellefeuille (age 66) and Leon Bellefeuille (age 15) and a sister, Tersila (age 40) in the 1851 Canada Census in St Maurice county.» shows without a doubt that she is the daughter of jean baptiste Rivard bellefeuille and Madeleine Godin who had a daughter Tharsille baptised April 18 1810. The fact that Emilie was said to be a widow in the 1861 census is not to be taken as a fact that she had married as it can just have been written because she was living with a son (people were discreet about illegitimate offsprings...). The father cited in Leon's marriage, Augustin Laroche, should be the one who was married with Marguerite Marchand living in Maskinonge, although he was still living in 1858 (he is said «defunt» in Leon's marriage). Again, acts could be imprecise in this type of context... 1. [Q-R] War graves damaged at City Cemetery
    2. War graves damaged at City Cemetery ] Police are investigating reports of criminal damage at the City Cemetery in west Belfast. One headstone has been smashed and 13 more have been damaged in an area of the cemetery for those who died in World War 1 and World War 2. Police also said a Cross of Sacrifice war memorial has been extensively covered in graffiti. In a statement the Royal British Legion in Ireland said: "The Legion is saddened to hear of this senseless incident. War memorials and graves honour the memory of service people who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who defend the freedom we enjoy." It is believed the attacks at the Falls Road cemetery were carried out at some stage between 15 and 22 April and anyone who witnessed suspicious activity over the past week is asked to call the PSNI. Information can be passed on via the non-emergency number 101.
