Good Morning fellow passengers! Time to get rolling along and I've come across an odd, slightly humorous situation. I have entered material in Private Family Trees on Ancestry.ca to which I subscribe. A Google search of my full name shows a Family Tree on Ancestry.com, to which I do not subscribe, and I am in it, along with my own three darlings and the daughter of my former husband and his second wife. I suspect this adult child would prefer her own Mother. Contacted Ancestry.com who told me to make the correction - I can't as it is not my entry and not my subscription. Anyone have a suggestion for a fix Cheers! Doreen

George- Usually the priest says," I have baptized Josephite born [day of birth]. The word for 'born' will come right after the name and will be 'né' if it's a boy and 'née' if it's a girl. Welcome back! A week ago, Ancestry was knocked down by a DDoS attack. After changing their server software, Ancestry.com came back up, as did their FindAGrave, and several other sites. Rootsweb and Worldconnect and Freepages took longer but it looks like we are all back to business as usual. Note that as far as I know, Rootsweb still has the AOL driven security issue where some folks will need to check the archives to see if they missed anything, and some folks could be bounced off because of the failed delivery of mail.. :-( Regards, Fred
Hi If you get this message we should be back on line and you can start posting. Enjoy Renee

Brains of elderly are slow because they know so much The brains of older people only appear to slow down because they have so much information to compute, much like a full-up hard drive, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full up, so to do humans take longer to access information, it has been suggested. Researchers say this slowing down it is not the same as cognitive decline. “The human brain works slower in old age,” said Dr. Michael Ramscar, “but only because we have stored more information over time “The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more.” SO THERE!! We Are All Brilliant!
hI ALL - I have a list of 8 birth and 8 marriage dates without the names of the children - I think I can match most of the births but am missing 5 marriages - would anyone have Charles and Monique Barrette's children information they wouldn't mind posting to list Joyce
Yes - I did write "6.Joseph n 30-01 b 01-12-1695 Cap-St-Ignace" having copied exactly that from Les Grandes Familles so somebody goofed! Viewing the clear baptism entry in FamilySearch shows that the birth was 30 January and the baptism was 1 February 1695. The godfather was Louis Gagnier(sic) and the godmother was Francoise Minville wife of Pierre Richard. Louis Gagnier signed. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-27928-5699-60?cc=1321742&wc=MHBY-HWP:13629401,13629402,13629403 Doreen ======================= ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeanne JACQUES" <jjacquesaz@cableone.net> To: QUEBEC-RESEARCH@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2014 7:32:51 PM Subject: [Q-R] Regarding the GERBERT - JALBERTs Doreen, Selma, and All, Regarding the two Joseph GERBERT - JALBERTs, you wrote "Joseph n 30-01 b 01-12-1695 Cap-St-Ignace". Hi Doreen You have to remember that PRDH standardized all the names but if you go to the actual record you'll see that the names are Gerbert & Hobertin. If you key in the name Gerbert in PRDH it will come up Jalbert, same for Hobertin you'll see Auberti Bertin. It's like that for thousand of names. "Les Grandes Familles" gives her name as Aubertin but the marriage registration in Drouin shows her surname as Hobertin. I checked the PRDH reference and found some other fun things which may mess up any searches you record. PRDH says "The name 'Gerbert' has been replaced by its standard 'jalbert'" and shows the marriage reference as Joseph Jalbert married 1722 at Boucherville to Marie Marguerite Bertin Aubertin. One more point on marriage of Francois Rocheron & Marie-Anne Filiatrault. This couple were married about 1720 and Marie-Anne died in 1722. Francois married his second wife 6 years later in 1728.
