Years ago in Canada and maybe even today, high school grads and university students would look for summer jobs as camp counsellors, life guards, bellhops, servers at resorts like Banff Springs Hotel and Lake Louise in Alberta, paddling trips through Ontario's lakes or working at Manoir Richelieu or Tadoussac in Quebec among others and learning a whole lot about life outside home. I spent a couple of summers at Manoir Richelieu in the 1950's and still in touch with friends I made there. I regret that I didn't know more about my own ancestry at the time because I was right there in the heart of it all! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Malbaie Cheers! Doreen
Thanks Doreen Fran and Renee for some guidance with the online Drouin Institute. I spent quite a lot of time getting use to it yesterday and it really gets the hits if I get the names correct. For me, it is very useful for capturing 1800-1860 births but I guess it still has to catch up with burials. So is it the BMS2000 that gives list of entire families in the 1800-1860 period? or something other? No Mary-Beth you can't. But if you key in the name of a couple it will give you all the records Drouin has on that couple for BMS, be it, subject, mother or father. You can open up to 150 records each day depending on the subscription you have. It only counts if you click on the little blue icon at the top right corner of the screen otherwise it doesn't count as a hit. One thing you have to do is play with the spelling of the names. At times I only use the name of one person if I'm not sure of the correct name of the other one. This is a message that I had tried to send when our list was down. Don't think it ever went through so am resending it. Joyce Don't know if Fred or someone else on list wrote following message which I kept in my notes I have been asked for the source of Jacques middle name Jean. Perhaps the numbers 2092-2093 would be a link to the source. quote from Fred Provencha's list 2092. Jacques Jean BOUCHER was born about 1562 in Mortagne, Chartres, Perche, France. He died before 30 Jul 1611 in , , France. He married Francoise PAIGNE on 04 Jul 1582 in Mortagne,Perche,Orne,France. 2093. Francoise PAIGNE was born about 1564 in Mortagne, Chartres, Perche, France. It looks like a dispensation of some kind. Can anyone interpret it for me? I surely Thank you. Also I have a real problem. I've been doing a Leclair research for some time. The Parents Jean Pascal Leclaire & Marguerite Leroux both died young. I'm following their son Joseph born in 1828 who married Sophie St. Michel in MA. Then lived in New Hampshirwe. My Mother's sister married their Grandson. What's puzzling me is who took care of all of those young children? The oldest was 12 when the Mother died. The Father died the year before. I know a younger child when she married had the Uncle Pierre Francois for her Guardian. Although he married a widow in the 1850's they never had children of their own. I think it was a Chenet. I can't find him in the 1861 Census or 1851. I've tried several versions of Leclair. Linnie came to my salvation on the Ancestry mix up. My sister-in-law`s daughter`s husband`s family - or someone in that family, created a Family Tree in Ancestry.com and therein lies the mixup. Now I can write to my sister-in-law and get it sorted out. Cheers and thanks to many helping hands. Doreen =============
somewhere on the page which shows the entry should be a contact info on the tree owner. Try to contact them to see if they'll change it.
