Hello, I used to use Rootsweb a lot and post messages on their message boards. Now I can't figure out how to do that. I get transferred to all sorts of options, none of which seem to be what I want.  Most frustrating. Can anyone give me any guidance? Thank you Peggy

Hi Fran - Thanks both for the link and the list of children. I have now deleted the extra names and checked all the dates. There were a few differences in the dates between born and baptised and deaths and burials which I have corrected also. This is the only Regis Lemay born in that time frame that I could fine. There's a number of none RC churches in Stukely area Shefford county. They may have married in another faith. Even is it said (living in Stukely Nord in the parish of Notre-Dame-de- Bonsecours ) doesn't mean they mean they were member of that church. It's a way to identify the area they were living in. Harriet To: ACGSTalk@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, December 8, 2007 9:28:30 PM Subject: Re: [TalkACGS] Re: Regis LeMay, VT. Landowner In 1851 there was a Régis Lemay, Cordonnier (shoemaker or leather worker)  époux de Suzanne St- Michel, living in Stukely Nord in the parish of Notre-Dame-de- Bonsecours in the Eastern  Townships of Québec. I found this by googling his name and coming up with   http://www.bonsecou   rs.ca/Histoire_ Plus.html  It's a fairly long detailed history (in French) of the region and  there is only one mention of Regis Lemay and his wife in a list of cordonnniers who practiced  there during the 19th century. The mention occurs pretty far down in the history. I got it by  using my Find on This  Page button in my browser to locate the name Lemay. It took several clicks  to find the name Regis Lemay. I don't know whether this is the couple you're looking for, but it  might be a lead. Suzanne St-Michel might very well be anglicized to Susan or Suzanna Mitchell.  They may have been married at Bonsecours, but I had no access to the parish registers. Anyway, I thought it might be worth passing on to you. Could be another rock for you to look  under. Al Trudeau ACGS #3720 The description you have stated is not far from Richford or Richmond, VT so it could be the area that Regis LeMay came from especially since the name LeMai is spelled with an i in Quebec. Regis and Susan very well could have been in Franklin or Chittenden county, VT by 1852. Harriet The only Stukely on my map of Quebec is in Shefford Co, and it it Stukely South. It is south East of Granby Quebec. Members I would appreciate any help finding exactly which Jean Hamel married Julie Lemay and who his parents were. I checked the list archives, the PRDH. your Folks,The LAFRANCE @online Drouinand they certainly seemed to have had many children but I cannot find their marriage! So what I have is this: - On several birth and burial of his children father refer to Jean Hamel as "jean" and mother as Julie Lemai. However, when his daughter, ROSE, was baptised her father is listed as Israel (no Jean) and Julie Lemai. Additionally when son Joseph is married at St. Cesaire in 3 October 1854, father of the groom is Jean Israel and mother of groom Julie Lemai , deceased. - from YOUR FOLKS..marriage of Jean Hamel and Julie Lemai was before 7 Feb 1830 in undetermined place - From online DROUIN - The earliest birth of a child of Jean Hamel and Julie Lemai is Esther Hamel on 28 April 1824 in Marieville, Rouville, Quebec, Canada - Burial of Julie Lemai (7 Oct 1847) her spouse is Israel Hamel (no Jean). ISRAEL HAMEL marries (2nd) 1849 to Rose Brodeur Lavigne Any help establishing the Hamel line of this Jean Hamel and/or Jean Israel Hamel and/or Israel Hamel and his birth dates would be much appreciated. The 2nd marriage of Israel Hamel is in Drouin for 6 Feb 1849 at St-Cesaire; the Index page for this marriage gives the names of the parties as Name: Jean Israël Hamel Spouse: Rose Brodin Event: Mariage (Marriage) Marriage Year: 1849 Marriage Location: St-Césaire, Québec (Quebec) The name of the groom was updated 08/02/2010 by "mtdger" a subscriber to Ancestry with a note that the change was as the name was recorded at baptism.
