    1. [Q-R] [VERMONT] Larue in ST Johnsbury
    2. Bridget Kopetzky via
    3. Harriet- I don't know if the Larue family from Bay City Michigan is related to this family as the Larue you are looking for was in Vermont, but you did mention Bay City. The Larue/LaRue families in Bay City were L'heureux in Quebec. They came to Bay City in the late 1870s from Trois Rivieres, or Ste. Anne de la Perade. I see a number of L'heureux families in Vermont and Massachusetts, too, so that is the name I would be looking for. Bridget

    2. WFlem72706 via
    3. UMATILLA, Fla. —Hundreds of American flags placed on the graves of veterans were tossed in a dumpster in Umatilla. For over a decade, American Legion Commander and Vietnam veteran Carl Ludecke has been coming to the Glendale Cemetery every Veterans Day, planting American flags on the graves of soldiers. "It represents the community's interest to honor them, even in death," said Ludecke. But that honor was taken away, when Ludecke noticed hundreds of flags went missing. The Legion later learned they'd been tossed in a dumpster. "It just makes us disgusted. Just disgusted that they don't have any more common sense than that," said Ludecke. Jamie Revord was court ordered to volunteer at the cemetery. He said a city maintenance employee, in charge of upkeep at the cemetery, ordered him to toss 200 American flags in a dumpster because they looked worn. "I didn't feel right about throwing an American flag away. That's not right," he said. "I was taken aback, and I indicated to the person who alerted me to it that the city would take full responsibility and replace the flags," said City Manager Glenn Irby. Veterans told WESH 2 News they'll be back at the cemetery for Veterans Day to replace the flags with new ones. "We just hope they learn from this situation and it doesn't happen again," said Robert Ragin, chaplain of American Legion Post 21.

    1. [Q-R] Vandals knock over century-old gravestones
    2. WFlem72706 via
    3. CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after more than 20 gravestones at a historic Cranston cemetery were knocked over – all of which were more than 100 years old. Pocasset Cemetery on Dyer Avenue is normally a peaceful place to walk through, but it was the site of serious vandalism this week. Area residents said vandalism can often be seen at the cemetery, but this time was a lot more significant. “We just always hope for the best. When we walk around we hope we don’t see major destruction every time we come,” said Adele Napolitano of Cranston. The cemetery made headlines last year after firefighters found a body burning on the grounds. Investigators said the 22-year-old man was strangled and set on fire. Napolitano believes scenes like that, plus the recent vandalism, would likely stop if a gate was installed at the entrance. “It’s an ongoing problem. Whoever is doing it, they must get a kick out of it,” she said. “Something has to be done, because there’s not enough money to put it back together.” Cranston police said each headstone will cost about $250 to fix. The department will now be stepping up patrols in the area. Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact them at (401) 477-5000.

    1. [Q-R] Boursier Family
    2. dtdoe via
    3. To All: Just wanted to let everyone know Cesaire Boursier was called Caesar Percy when he married here in 1866. Also on different Censuses Even on Church records but ONE Priest wrote Boursier-Lavigne on just one record. That is what has made this search so difficult. When they had children & when he died he was called Caesar Percy. His wife was a Defond-Defoy. Supposedly her Farher Seraphim was born in Quebec in 1814 but I couldn't find him. He had a relative living with him much younger & he was Adolphe Defoy. I found one in Quebec born the year he was supposed to be. I was able to follow him all the way back. However. I have to try & find out that connection. His daughter called him Uncle but I don't think that was right. Seraphim was married to a Marie Papineau but not in Canada I guess. Thanks again to everybody. Darlene

    3. What exactly are you trying to find? I am sure you've seen the same messages boards I've encountered that say "Theofile" Forcier and "Chlorisse" Parent wed 11 May 1891. Familysearch even has a copy of the marriage. Most indications I've seen suggest Clara was born in Maine. I suppose an equal amount say Vermont. One message board listed a series of Censuses for Penobscot County, Maine from 1860 and 1870 and even suggested it was likely Francois Larue and Louise Poulin wed there. It is even possible that is where Clara Larue was born. Given that information, I would write a letter to the county clerk or find a genealogy group. It is probably a good idea to find out the cost and process before offering payment. A quick search on Google yields the Penobscot County Genealogical Society. They have a "research help" section. Step one would probably be Clara Larue since you said she was baptized in St Johnsbury, Vermont in 1867. See if they can find a Clara or Clarissa Larue born in 1867. The Louisa in the 1860 Census was 24 and her child, Mary, was 4 so it is probably safe to assume if they married in that county, it was in the mid to late 1850s. That would be a good step two. In my experience requesting documents they allow for a search of plus or minus a couple years I would go with an approximate marriage date of 1855 since their daughter Mary was born about 1856? After that, I am unsure. It is at least somewhere to look. A lot would hinge on whether they find the marriage record and what information is contained within it. I hope it is some help. This is someone that has done a lot for our Cheboygan Genealogy Society so I'm doing what I can for him. I will never find his Seraphim Defoe-Defoy but he had a relative living with him in Clinton Co., N.Y. Adolphe Defoy & I found all of his line way back. I just have to figure the relationship. He was young enough to be a Nephew. THANKS for any help Darlene T. Holling

    1. [Q-R] Vandals cause damage in McMinn County cemetery
    2. WFlem72706 via
    3. Deputies in McMinn County have been left with little to go on, after vandals struck a cemetery, just outside Athens city limits. The vandalism reportedly happened in July, at the Cedar Springs Cemetery about a dozen headstones were damaged, some knocked over. The damaged headstones were noticed by a family that came to clean the gravesite of a loved one. They did not file a report with the sheriff's department. No suspects have been named at this time.

She died 9/27/1901 Lowell, MA. and Théophile Forcier b. 5/4/1858 Saint-François-du-Lac, Qc. died 7/26/1937 Rochester, N.H. I have gone a long way in the past 20 years to get this far with help of message boards, and need one more thing. Her parents were François Larue and Ludovia (Louise) Poulin. I am told they were from Canada, but cannot find traces of them either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Francoise Forcier Kardash -----Original Message----- From: Harriet E.
