    3. Hi Darlene, PRDH has a marriage on 13 Feb 1792 at Sault au Recollet between Michel Demers Dumais and Marie Rose Monet Boismenu. Ancestry has the record. It's indexed as Michel Demers and Marie Rose Boismenu and took place in the church of La Visitation de la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie. Hope this helps. 3. You might remember, Peggy, that Francoise Garnier / Grenier was a subject of discussion on QR in 2012. This is one link to our archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/QUEBEC-RESEARCH/2012-12/1354985134 I order copies of notary records from http://www.banq.qc.ca/services/services_reproduction/repro_photo/index.html The main page in English for BAnQ is http://www.banq.qc.ca/accueil/index.html?language_id=1 The original records are in French. I do not know of a source that has transcribed the records you mention into English. I have a full set of the documents concerning the question of the death of Francoise Garnier / Grenier and her identity, but I have not looked at them for a very long time. I was, however, involved in the 2012 discussion, as was Mona Rainville. If anyone has them and is willing to share (not asking for a copy but the wording would be appreciated) I would be very grateful. I'm one of those who likes to see it in writing themselves. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- March 11 1666 from Notary Becquet: Donation d'une terre situee en la cote de Beauport: par Noel Langlois, veufide Francoise Garnier (alternate spelling of Grenier), a Jean Langlois et Nole Langlois, ses enfants. The article mentions some dissension in the family after Francoise's death. [Perhaps it was over property and that was his way of smoothing over the situation since this would seem to be land in addition to what had been conceded to Jean and Noel the day before Francoise's death. Note: The older Jean had been conceded four arpents (.85 acres per arpent) of land upon his marriage to Charlotte Belanger two weeks before Francoise's death and the younger Jean and Noel were given two arpents of land the day before her death. The author of this article asked "faced with the threat of a family squabble, Noel Langlois used all of his paternal authority and found a solution to the problem. What happened for the Langlois couple to take this sudden decision?". This action is surrounded by mystery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- There is also a July 13, 1682 record: Protet de Paul Vachon et ux, mineurs Louis Cote, Guillaume Lemieux et ux, Noel Langlois, Jean Peltier et ux, etveuve Rene Chevallier vs Jean Langlois Sr. St. Jean. This appears to involve the rights of the minor children of Noel Langlois and Francoise Garnier. An inventory of the property left by Francoise Grenier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- >From Notary Michel Fillion June 14 1683: In the year of 1665 (Sunday) the 1st of November died in the fellowship of our Sainte Mother Church, Francoise Garnier, wife of Noel Langlois, senior inhabitant of this country, after having received the sacraments of (viatique?) and Extreme Unction; and the same day was interred in the cemetery of this parish. What was the cause of her death? No document specifies clearly. A document of the Notary Michel Fillion, dated Jun 14, 1683, assures us, however, that it was a violent death, because we find these espression: "in the cause of the death of the wife of said Langlois, she was killed". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------- The following is from Notary Paul Vachon husband of Marguerite Langlois (these are not only the daughter and son in law of Noel and Francoise but also g grandparents in the Hardy line): It is a notation in a declaration of the state of Noel Langlois's financial accounts made before the notary Michel Fillion June 14, 1687. The text reads as follows " [My Paul Vachon notary received for two years food for the said Vachon and his wife 400 livres (pounds), which he received from the Reverend Father Cahumonot because of the death of the wife of the said Langlois who was killed. Michel Langlois adds "the details of her death are unknown. It is amazing that in all the documention that survives there is no mention of a murder of the mother-in-law of this Notary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- Not a notary but just a comment. One other researcher has noted (and a number of people have decided to research this incident and I will post any results) "Francoise Grenier, wife of Noel Langlois, died of a gunshot wound which was determined to be accidental, although it was suggested that it might have been murder". 3. Hello Linnie, In the absence of better information, the names at attachment of women born in nearby Beauce County may be helpful in a process of elimination. The date column is date of birth. Those identified as having married in Canada could possibly have remarried in Maine. The attachment is from Bob Chenard’s Beauce County index. 1. [Q-R] Cemetery Report: Sept 9, 2014 " Webster, Massachusetts"
    2. WFlem72706 via
    3. Sue and I left the Motel at 9:05AM heading for Webster, Mass. I was really looking forward to this as I was in hopes of finding my great great grandfather, who is verified buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Also I was to be interviewed live by______________ for a______________ Genealogical Society, mainly concerning cemeteries. About 10:30AM @ 68F, we pulled into the small cemetery I had been told about many years ago. Well, let me tell you ,this is no small country cemetery. I estimated it to be 1 to 1 1/2 days cemetery walk for me to get through it all. And I never did go and look at the other cemeteries there as I expected the same size for them also. I was told many years ago it was a rather small cemetery of maybe 150-200 burials........wrong.................... Also that this was the first visit by a family member to this cemetery. I've tried to get here for years. My great great grandfather was Alexander Munson of Chazy, N.Y. Clinton County. He apparently came down here to work in a grist mill and died while here. The family story was that no one back in Clinton County could afford to bring his body back home. Now for the second reason to being here. We were only minutes apart from arriving at the cemetery till the interviewer got there. But, it gave me about 5 minutes to look around at the headstones close to the car, as did my wife but in a different direction. I wanted to get a sampling of what was there. " Nice of you to drop in"...........did I really hear that???????? Well, maybe not but I certainly fell in. "Sue, I fell in" For the first time she got to witness what she has only read about, I dropped in a grave. Other then getting dirty, I was fine and Sue and I had a good laugh. .....Now who pulls in, the interviewer....................well, she got a couple photos of me in the hole. They should be available in the near future. What timing eh ! After this exciting meeting we moved farther into the cemetery for the interview. What a great setting to do this........... :) Now I had guessed this to be about a half hour interview, but this nice lady made me talk for about 2 hours. (No comments please). Sue was exhausted.................LOL But now that, that was over, where is my Great Great Grandfather? So the interviewer was kind enough to take me to the town offices to check the records. Now I got disappointed. Alexander was listed as a pauper. That means very poor and no headstone or record of exactly where he was buried. Other than, the lady gave me a cemetery map and showed me the woods on the edge of the cemetery where in that time period they buried the poor. Basically all in an area with no headstones. So, he was in a clump in the woods. I guess it was early afternoon and the interviewer took us for coffee and we talked more. Finally after taking photos of the wooded area, it was decided not to even start walking the cemetery as it was to large at that time of day. But I have decided to return to Webster next year (May) and stay long enough to do all the cemeteries, so for those of you who had requests, you have to wait one more year. I am now planning on mid May to return to Webster and stay there a few days at least and then head back to Northampton, Mass. and finish that area. Oh, before I fell in, I did get a sampling of names and there were many French names. The mystery interviewer, sometime in October will put on the list, how to go about hearing the interview. So you can watch for that in a few weeks. So as for today that was the highlight. Another great day with the dead. Best Bill Help keep our dead alive.
