Hello,I have been watching the thread about Menard/Gagnon and noted with interest that the first marriage took place in St. Patrick's in Rouses Point, NY. I have never been able to find the marriage of my gg grandparents and there is talk that they married in Rouses Point, NY in 1831 even though they lived in Quebec, near to the border. Hart could have been spelled as Hert or Herdt or Herte. Was St. Patrick's there in 1831? They were married in either March or September and it would make my day if I was able to get their marriage.thank youPeggy

A man in his 50s was in critical condition this afternoon after his leg was run over by a truck and then hit by a falling tombstone near Toronto Necropolis cemetery, according to Toronto Paramedic Services. Medical personnel responded to the call at about 1:30 p.m. in Cabbagetown and said the man suffered life-threatening injuries after a tombstone toppled off the back of the truck. Paramedics transported the unidentified man to hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Truly remarkable. Thank you indeed. How did you find the Menard/Belleville marriage? Was it a Catholic marriage? And, I’m surprised that the Menard/Gagnon marriage didn’t mention that Philomene too had been married previously. So, it’s likely true that they are parents of the children in the marriage cert, but this is a mixed family. And, it means that they didn’t necessarily fool around prior to their marriage. Thank you again. Very much appreciated. Don, Thank you very much. I’ve been looking for any of the baptismal records of any of the pre marriage children and have found none of them. So, the possibility of looking over the border for both the first marriage and birth records is likely the direction I’ll have to take now. Changes are, however, that Bellville (Beauville, Beauvie, Beaulieu, etc.) should trace quickly back in to Quebec, but I’m not finding any clues. So, something is very different about this one. I’ll keep the list posted on what I find. The way the marriage record reads, all children listed are Louis & Philomene .....they were legitimizing them............there was some reason why they weren't married before ....either in the US ( Lacolle is near the border ) or he waited for his wife to die. The 1881 Canada Census, which gives surname as "Minor" shows the family of Louis, aged 26 with wife Philomene age 22 with the following children: Sarah - age 11 Mary - age 9 Peter - age 5 Margaret - age 3 Louis - age 2 - he does not appear in record for father's second marriage. The 1883 marriage of Louis, widower of Adeline Belleville, shows the youngest child as Jean Baptiste aged 6 months. Drouin/Ancestry shows that Louis Menard, son of Louis Menard & Philomene Gagnon was buried on 7 July 1881 at St-Bernard, Lacolle. Also another unnamed infant born to Louis & Philomene was buried on 5 January 1882 at St-Bernard, Lacolle. Cheers! Hi Gang I got a complaint /question generated from the list that I know I've answered before over the years. Its one of histories many problems that has not been correct by main stream book writers and only a few historians. And lets not forget teachers. I was asked Tues. of this week why I didn't make a comment about columbus Day, which was this past Monday. Sometime back in the Spring it was hitlers birthday and I didn't mention that either. columbus wasn't as bad as hiltler but to me, he falls into that catagory. The e-mail I received was nice, it was not a bad e-mail of bitching, it was just a question. Perfectly fine in manner. 1st off, and especially to all you Italians out there, columbus was not Italian, it was proved years ago. He was Spanish & some say a bit of Portugeese. 2nd He was not Catholic, he was Jewish. And just a note hear, all this history took place during the Spanish Inquisition and for columbus it was basically say he was Catholic or loose his head and no sailing for him. "He was an underground Jew". 3rd. He never discovered anything nor discovered any land that hadn't already been discovered before he set sail. And all the above has been known for a long time. But, lets not upset history and change all the history books in school and what we teach and take down all the columbus statues around the world. God forbid we ever attempt anything like that. But, columbus is only 1 on 1000's of things in history that need to be updated. And lastly, why I connect columbus to a lessor degree to a hitler type, how many 1000's of natives, Indians, did he kill? He slaughtered the Natives. He was not a very nice guy. I have no appreciation for him nor do I give him any recognition. Best Bill
