I had trouble with my old FTM version 2005 and I lost a whole bunch of people. I was distraught but the next time that I opened my file, they came back and others were missing. This kept happening. I lost a whole file which had much early info on it and that was really upsetting. Then somehow I found it again but was afraid to close the file in case it disappeared again. I contacted FTM and they told me that my FTM was not compatible with Windows 7. So I said that it has been compatible for over 10 years. They told me I must buy 2017 version. So I did and I hate it. However, I discovered that the problem really was that I was down to abt 1 GB of free space on my drive so there was not enough space for the computer to work properly. I fixed that and I am still using old computer and old version of FTM. However, there are still some missing people from before I freed up some space. I have a family (Eloi Roy, Julienne Souci and 4 children) listed on the 1861 census in the 11th District, Premier Division, Quebec County. Is there any way to tell where physically that was? Mr. Google is not the least bit helpful. <grin> The first child of this couple is born/baptized in St Sylvestre, Lotbiniere with the parents stated as being from Leeds. Another researcher found the 4 younger children baptized in St Nicolas in 1847, 50, 53 and 54 in a Repertoire for St Nicolas but I can’t find them in either Ancestry or Family Search St Nicolas records. St Nicolas is a long ways from Leeds so I am wondering where the 11th District was and if that could explain the St Nicolas connection. I would also like to understand how the children appear in St Nicolas Repertoire but not in the microfilm of the parish records. By 1871, Julienne is a widow living with the 5 children in Leeds, Megantic. As always, thanks for any guidance. Mary Lindemann Lacey, Washington

Sorry I could not wait for our holiday receipe exchange A mixture of Louisiana Recipies and Canadian ones with a "cajun" twist. We use to eat at Paul's sandwich shop before he opened the "Kitchen" From: Google Alerts Paul Prudhomme's kitchen O Canada My New Orleans Prudhomme picked Patout to help spread the word about the country fare with French similarities to the fancier Creole cuisine of New Orleans. Stirred into the melting pot were American Indian, African and other influences which made it similar yet different. Cajuns cooked white beans, Creoles red. http://www.myneworleans.com/New-Orleans-Magazine/May-2018/O-Canada/ ============================================== ....... Before the late 20th century, Patout said, Cajun and Creole were “two distinct cultures living 60 miles apart. We had our own language, food, music and customs. (Cajun) is truly a home-style cuisine.” Patout believes the test of a Cajun cook is his chicken stew. His grandmother raised chickens and served it every Sunday. “Anyone who really wants to have a Cajun repertoire has to master Cajun chicken stew,” he said. French-Canadian dishes popular still popular in Canada are poutine (French fries with cheese curds and gravy), fricot (stew) and tourtiere (meat pie). Versions still live in Cajun cooking, and poutine has been brought back by a few local restaurants. .........
