Hmmm. Have you received an answer yet? Marin Girard and Francoise Anceau are ancestors of mine. I'm also confused by the info on Fichier Origine concerning Marie Madeleine's parentage. Did you click on numérisé on her entry? It brings up what I believe is the marriage contract. My translation skills aren't great either. I believe that PRDH wouldn't have Michel and Gilles listed on the family document as children, since they didn't emigrate to New France. Perhaps Bertrand would be kind enough to shed some light on this matter. Jackie -----Original Message----- From: M. A. Some web pages suggest using process explorer to find the busy file. If you don't know where it is, you can type procexp.exe wherever windows 10 allows you to enter a file to run. then: To successfully delete a locked file, you will need to identify the process which has locked the file. You need to exit the process first and then delete the file. To know which process has locked a file you need a tool such as Microsoft Sysinternals' Process Explorer <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx> (PE). Once you have PE installed ... 1. Click the Find menu, and choose Find Handle or DLL ... 2. Type the file name (name of the file which is locked by some process.) 3. After typing the search phrase, click the Search button also you can directly right-click the family tree make file and select "Kill Process Tree" hopefully it'll kill all the connections. Hello, The Your Folks site lists the following: Marie Madeline Girard d/o Michel Girard and Francoise Anceaume and Charles Jobin s/o Jacques Jobin and Marguerite Roy Joyce
Sorry you hav had so much trouble. I tried your fix but it dident work. FTM work for 2 hours trying to figure out what to do . I started out with one tree that would not load now i have two. Lots of help. The poor guy really tried but had no idea what to do. I am using MS 10 and have FTM 2017. I like it when its working but to many bugs. I dont know where to go from here. I could delete FTM and reinstall it and down load from Ancestry but how long would it work before I loose it again.????? I was distraught but the next time that I opened my file, they came back and others were missing. This kept happening. I lost a whole file which had much early info on it and that was really upsetting. Then somehow I found it again but was afraid to close the file in case it disappeared again. I contacted FTM and they told me that my FTM was not compatible with Windows 7. So I said that it has been compatible for over 10 years. They told me I must buy 2017 version. So I did and I hate it. However, I discovered that the problem really was that I was down to abt 1 GB of free space on my drive so there was not enough space for the computer to work properly. I fixed that and I am still using old computer and old version of FTM. However, there are still some missing people from before I freed up some space. Hi! Fran, well I did all of that including trouble shooting, the program was scanned and I’m still getting the message “a generic error occurred”. That will come on after the search and before it copies to CD. I did contact FTM people and they told me that a new version of FTM will do the trick. I have version 16 and all the “free updates to 18” are for version 17 only. Thank you for your help. Roch on C: drive Programs (x86) [or not] - find the FTM icon and right click on it - click on "troubleshoot compatibility" and follow instructions. My work is piling up and I cant do anything about it. HELP. Has anyone else had this problem and how was it corrected.
OK i just seen this and here is what i want you to do close your computer completely let it rest for at least 3 minutes reboot and boot into SAFE MODE then run a complete scan from your scan drive or security then find family tree maker while in SAFE MODE and copy all your files to a larger hard drive or a safe backup file. This is what worked for me On 05/02/18, Christine Morton <[email protected]> wrote: > I only have an old version of ftw running on Windows 7. > > Have you tried opening the FTW.exe with a right-click and "run as > administrator" ? > Do you have a saved copy that someone else with the same version can try > and open? > > On Wed, May 2, 2018 at 3:30 PM, Roch <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Hi! I only have an old version of ftw running on Windows 7. Have you tried opening the FTW.exe with a right-click and "run as administrator" ? Do you have a saved copy that someone else with the same version can try and open? On Wed, May 2, 2018 at 3:30 PM, Roch <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi! Hi! Peggy, my problem with FTM Version 16, is that I can’t back it up anymore since I installed Window 10. FTM tells me that I have a “a Generic error occurred” so now I have to by a newer version of FTM. What a rip off. Roch I had trouble with my old FTM version 2005 and I lost a whole bunch of people.
