    2. Ed , when you go looking for Henri William King, remember that the last name King is probably an anglicization of the French name Roy. Have you gone to the town clerk for Waterloo? Is this Waterloo in Quebec province or in Canada. The parish registers for the town where he was born? Do you know where the Mother was from? Are there any other older family members that might have more information? Since 1916 was during the heart of the First World War, have you looked for information on King in the American enlistment records , or the Canadian records? Many Frenchmen came south from Canada to work on the farms and the mills in Ma during this time. Do you have access to a French canadian Genealogical library? They might have more research material for the French in Ma. Fran wilcox

    3. Fran, Thank you for the suggestions. I'm actually looking for the specific address for the Waterloo, Quebec town clerk or whomever would have the birth record. This is a somewhat convoluted story( no surprise there !). Henri William Boire was born on April 16, 1916. He had an older sister, Margaret who was born on October 23, 1914 presumably in Waterloo, Quebec. Margaret retained the surname of King( Roy, Le Roi) at least as an adult. I don't know how her name would appear on a birth certificate. For some reason, both children were raised by family members other than their parents. When Henri was three months old, he was taken to the United States by an aunt( Anna Girard Kooken) of Ernestine Boire. Anna whose maiden name was Girard and whose parents were Francis X Girard and Rosalie Tanguay was born in Canada on September 15, 1881. She immigrated to the US and subsequently married Joseph Kooken. In June of 1916, she returned to Canada and brought back Henri William Boire. Henri William Boire was baptized in Boston in June 1916. He was subsequently adopted by Anna and her husband. If I have my facts straight, Anna was Henri's grandaunt so there is some connection between the Girard family and the Boire family in Canada. Margaret who went by the surname King was raised by Leona Boire, her mother's sister. I don't know if Margaret grew up in Canada or not but she subsequently moved to the US and she lived in Bangor, ME. 3. Hi; If you want to find the birth date for a person born in the Province of Quebec, Canada, as opposed to the Waterloo in the Province of Ontario, Canada, in 1916, the only likely place you'll find that is in the church records. The Province of Quebec did not have a provincial centralized birth recording system until several years later. But if your birth date is correct. you might be able to get a copy of the church baptismal record by writing to one of the Province of Quebec Archives offices. I think they can read English, although all their messages at their web site at the Archives Nationales du Québec are only in French. Their URL is http://www.anq.gouv.qc.ca/index.htm I believe you can get a copy of that baptismal record for a nominal fee. The Waterloo, Que. info should be in the Provincial Archives Eastern Townships office in Sherbrooke at: anq.sherbrooke@mcc.gouv.qc.ca Their tel. no. is: (819) 820-3010 However, if a kind lister, living in Quebec, has access to the LDS microfilm of the Waterloo Catholic church, he/she might be able to give you the info. after the New Year's, since all Archives offices, and municipal libraries are closed until next Wednesday in the Province.
