I discovered that Mount Royal started cremation in 1901. My great grandfather Edward Henry Rothwell died aboard ship in the port of Montreal and was cremated c 1903-1907.The only confirmed information on him is that he died and was cremated in Montreal. This is my first posting and I thank one and all for any help or suggestions. Burnie >

    3. Yes, for a small fee Mount Royal cemetery will do a search of their records & tell you what they find. On their website - click on "genealogy" for more details. If you click on "Products" - you can type in the name you seek & it will tell you if the name appears in either Mount Royal or Hawthorndale cems. (the website doesn't say which - though) Mt Royal is a large cemetery - & if you find your family member is buried in G section or A section or whatever -- ask them WHICH G or A section. G1- G2 G3 etc.. as that will narrow the search (should you ever visit) to a couple hours or so. Unlike the Notre Dame des Neiges cem-- Mt Royal lists women under their married name .. so if you are looking for Jean Brown who married John Jones -- they will list her under Jean Jones.
