    1. surname Cote Quebec 1800-1850's, Minnesota 1857, Maine 1902
    2. I am researching my grandfathers ancestral line, surname Cote. The records I have show that my grandfathers great grandfather Magloire Cote married Anastasie Huot at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 9, 1857 by Father Fayolle*. Can someone clue me to why people moved from Quebec at that time to Minnesota. The huot's moved from St. Antoine sur Richelieu, Quebec.** I am interested in the travel routes that immigrants might have taken at that time, did they go via ship or in groups? The family book shows that Magloire was born 1841 in Edmundston, Rivera Vert, St. Basille, Quebec. I had no luck finding him in the canadian census. Was Malgoire a name like Michael or Michel? What might be some resources in the Edmunston area or any other relatives. Magloire and Anastasie lived in Quebec prior to 1857, than married in Minnesota in 1857, than I find him in Northern Maine [Connor "K" Plantation/Caribou]. His children Joseph J [DEC 10 1857 born in Old Town, ME], Levi Cote and Sabrina Cote. I have the descendants for Joseph J Cote, my great great granfather. But would like to get more information. Joseph J. married Emma Bergeron D'Amboise and had 8 children, including son Emmanuel Cote [born in Connor/Caribou MAR 18, 1902] marrying Malvina Lizotte and had 20 children, including his son Arthur Joseph Cote [born in Lewiston, ME 1926] marrying Francoise Bougie and had 4 children, including his son Paul Cote [born in Hartford, CT in 1956] who married Brenda Goyette and had 5 children, including me, Paul A. Cote, Jr [born in Lewiston, ME Oct 13, 1976]. I only show that Magloire moved, and someone in the family said that Magloire's parents were: Felix Cote [born 1803 Quebec] Delehite Lizotte [born 1809 in Quebec]. The parents of Felix Cote was listed in a family book as Joseph Cote [1772 France] and Assie Euob [1777 Germany] and a question to another child from this couple. There has been question to the popular belief from the family that our line arrived after Jean Coste, who introduced the Cote line to Canada in the 1600's. So I am looking for help, any genealogists or anyone with some experience in these topics. I am thinking that maybe my line may connect to the Cote line in France to Jean Coste but not from the Canada branch but another line. Note: I cite my sources and take pride in my research, giving credit to people that do research/documents, pictures etc,and do not believe that research should be sold outside of the family line. You may use information I post, but do not publish it as your own without citing sources. I find this a never ending issue with online genealogy and Genealogy Websites online that asks for your information and than compile CD's to sell. Wrong wrong wrong. Take pride in your research and take pride in your surname. It's your voice, your legacy, your life do not let theft and greed steal it from you. :) *In Marriages and births of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Minneapolis 1851-1858[Ray Miller raymil@ncis.com] **From the History of Hennepin County: Town of Plymouth.
