"The 1881 Canadian Census Project is a project based at the Département de Démographie/CIED, Université de Montréal to enhance a 100% sample of the 1881 Canadian census for academic historical, demographic and genealogical research. This sample contains over 4.3 million records, covering the entire enumerated Canadian population in 1881 and making it one of our most important resources for the study of social and economic organization during Canada's formative period."
