    3. >From time to time AOL makes changes to it's email client. The following information is primarily for AOL members of Rootsweb lists... This is not an invitation to discuss AOL in general, or to discuss AOL email oddities on the list. Have a GREAT day!....... Gary ----- Original Message ----- FYI about a new AOL problem A new problem has come up today as a result of AOL adding a tagline to every email sent by an AOLer. For those of us using AOL versions 6.0 and later the new tagline which reads: ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. ...doesn't seem to be creating any problem other than some people (non-AOLers) are receiving their digests with everything after the tagline lacking formatting and the list archives are displaying code for breaks (ugly) in the tagline. Here is one example from a message I posted today: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/AOLers-RootsWeb/2007-02/1172104920 For those RootsWeb list members who use AOL 5.0 and earlier (these old versions of AOL couldn't send/receive HTML at all) they are no longer able to post to any RootsWeb lists as of today. ...:-( The messages either just disappear of they get a bounce which looks like the one copied below: Subj: A new problem (probably just for me, though) Date: 2/21/07 5:51:48 PM Mountain Standard Time From: [email protected] Sender: [email protected] To: xxxxxxx message's file extension was not explicitly allowed if you are using a rich text editor (colors, different fonts ect...) you must turn it off ------ The problem is that the posters are not using any file extention and they are not sending in HTML --the tagline being added by AOL is creating the problem.
