Hi Listers, I hope that someone will be able to explain this situation. I have located the marriage record in Notre-Dame-de-Montreal for my 4th ggrandparents. His name is listed as well as his parents' names, but for her it's a different story. She is named as "Marie Anne dite Cuthbert", and was underage so the court gave permission for her marriage in 1806. For most of the baptismal records for the children her name is given as Marie Anne David (although one record gave her surname as Roy and another as Davitre), and I was very surprised to find her named in her burial record as "Marie Anne Villeneuve[...]femme de Jean Marie Villeneuve" without her own surname being used. Does anyone know what the circumstances would be for her? Could she have been an orphan? How do I proceed with locating her parents' names? Thanks for any help! Peggy Youngs
