Hi Bertrand; You say that there is no link between the LDS and Ancestry.com. That may be true on the surface, however, up until this month, Family History Centers had free access to Ancestry.com. . As for Drouin and LDS, I agree that there are possibly records that may be seen on Drouin that are not in the LDS copies. However, what I was trying to convey was that one should check both sources for a BMS just to make sure and not rely only on the Drouin Internet collection. And since as you mention there are only 10 million records, we can all have fun for a long time!! Furthermore, the agreement between the Catholic church and the LDS leading to the microfilming of the Church copy in the 1970s did not give the LDS the right to replicate and eventually sell copies to outside organizations. Finally, there are cases where the church copy is missing records which are in the Greffe copy. The Drouin collection often has for the older records both copies. Oh yes fun .. ..first I am very happy that we can access to those precious documents, I was very fortunate at end of Feb I decided to take the Deluxe menbership half price.. yes it is fun doing genealogy, also it is a very good way to test your level of patience. I had been using it up and there is pages missing. I am questionning how will the index be done... I am researching in the L'Islet county area and and my grand mother was St Pierre Dessaint, and you can imagine the way it was written in the 1800...and earlier also.. desien pierre, desin. I really dont know how someone from other country looking for an ancester will find him unless we have the option of various spelling ( soundex) like for the census 1901 and 1911.. Now I would like to share this with you, my grand son is in grade 7 in Kingston and he has to do a project on his ancestors, what a great idea, my oldest one did one about 25 years ago and this wake me up about genealogy and been working off and on since...I hope this will make some parents aware how important it is genealogy and that will encourage them to start searching... now with a lot available on the net..oh my what a change with 25 years ago....
