For years I've bee trying to find the birth of Jean-Baptiste Petit. When he married 22 Oct 1864 at N-D Ottawa to Sara Murphy w/o of Patrick Burke, he is said to be s/o Antoine & Mariel Louise Galarneau. The 1881 census gave him a date if birth 1830. I felt there was something wrong as Louise Galarneau was born in 1773. After going from page to page in the record of Gentilly from 1829 on, I found this J-B born in 1831. The godparents Michel & Victoire Poisson are the parents of Emelie Beaudet who married Augustin Petit s/o Antoine & Marie-Louise Galarneau aug 13 1839 at St-Edouard Gentillly, Nicolet. They could be the parents of Jean-Baptiste Petit raised by Antoine & Marie-Louise Galarneau as Louise would have been too old to have a child in 1831 as she was born in 31 Oct 1773. Is there a way to prove that Augustin is the father of J-B . Jean-Baptiste died 24 Dec 1882 at a logger camp. Nothing more was found about his death and the family change the name to John Little:) possibly after his death.
