Hi, You can go to ftdna.com and order a test. Your best bet is to go through one of their projects to order a test. You would order either the mtDNA test or Autosomal test. The mtDNA test only checks the mother's side. Both male and female can take this test. For females, they cannot do the Y-DNA which does father's surname. Here is the link for the Seguin project that you can order a test. Also, to save money in the long run, your best test for mtDNA is both the HVR1 and HVR2. That is the complete test. You may match on test 1 but not on test 2. This will verify the complete match. I have done the complete test for my lines.
