Thank you Fran, Michelle, Tony & Doreen! You have all been a wonderful help. My head is swimming from all the additional look-ups I've been doing based on your information. But... it has opened up the next can of worms... The friend I am researching for is the daughter of: Joseph Amedee Ferdinand GOYETTE, b/bp 03 Jun 1908 Ste-Thecle, Champlain Co., [Ferdinand] son of Marie Annésie PRONOVOST, b. Dec 1877, Quebec grandson of Francois Xavier PRONOVOST, Quebec great grandson of ___***___ PRONOVOST. and Anna Zoe PRONOVOST born 18 Apr 1905, East Berlin, Hartford County, CT, USA daughter of George PRONOVOST, born about Dec 1874 in Connecticut & Zoe ________, born June 1871 in Quebec, married about 1896 in Connecticut granddaughter of ________ PRONOVOST great granddaughter of ___***___ PRONOVOST. There is a family story that Joe & Anna were "second and a half cousins", and shared a great grandfather, but came from different wives. The names to get to this great grandfather were not passed down though. Now seeing PRONOVOST on both sides, the story is starting to make sense. My problem now is Anna's PRONOVOST's father was George PRONOVOST, born Dec 1874 in Connecticut according to the 1900 census. His parents were both French Canadian, but I have yet to find out their names. How do I connect an unknown PRONOVOST who left Canada to settle in Connecticut (and married in Connecticut), to being a brother or half brother of Francois Xavier PRONOVOST??? I should be able to find a George PRONOVOST, age 5 in the 1880 US census but the name must have been written differently, and with no other family members to match on, it's hard to take a guess on other spellings. Is there a PRONOVOST genealogy out there somewhere? According to the 1911 census in Champlain District, Ste. Thècle Sub District, they were married about 1906. The family thinks the marriage may have been in Quebec City. They later went farther north, for a logging job. The mother (Anysie) died and in 1927, Ferdinand and 5 of his children moved to Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA, where they appear in the 1930 census. I know of the following children, but do not have official birth/christening dates/places for any of them from the Canadian records: 1. Angele "Angel" GOYETTE, born March 1907, presumed to have stayed in Canada. 2. John Baptiste GOYETTE, born 3 Jun 1908 Abitizabe, Quebec, (not sure of place name) married Mary Louise ______ in USA died 8 Nov 1989 Hobe Sound, Florida, USA 3. Joseph Ferdinand GOYETTE, born 3 Jun 1908 Abitizabe, Quebec, (not sure of place name) married Anna Zoe PRONOVOST in Connecticut died 30 May 1992 Hobe Sound, Florida, USA 4. Marie Ange GOYETTE, born March 1907, presumed to have stayed in Canada. 5. Alice GOYETTE, born September 1910, married Theodore BROUILLARD in Connecticut (brother of Albert) died 10 May 1997, Wolcott, New Haven Co, CT, USA 6. Rosemary GOYETTE, born 14 Feb 1913, married Albert BROUILLARD in Connecticut (brother of Theodore) died 23 Dec 2003, Waterbury, New Haven Co, CT, USA 7. Cecile Marie Louise GOYETTE, born 25 Feb 1923, married Frank VASELLO in USA died 9 Nov 2007, Simpsonville, Greenville Co, SC, USA Would like to have the marriage info for Ferdinand and Anysie, and christening info for the children. Was Anysie the mother of the youngest child, Cecile? Were there more children? What year will the Canadian 1921 census be made available? Thanks in advance for whatever can be found.
