HI, Also read on one of the mail liste recently - that some families favour a particular name - and give that name to all their children - but use a different middle name - by which the child is known. * I helped research a family - a number of years ago - could it already by 10 years ? - which sent me on a wild goose chase - Parents James [Joseph], Julia, Nicholas, Anna, Hannah, John, Anastasia [Nancy], Catherine, William. Finally the Census - and I found the family !!!!! - but some of the birth dates didn't match with some information that I had previously been given. The birth years of the men were 7 years apart. The wives a few years different. The other children - all born aprox the same time frames - one Catherine born in January the other in April. of the same year.the William s born two years apart. Two Cousins - with the same given names - both married Julia's - all named their children according to the paternal family pattern. Both had children of the same sex - in the same pattern /time frame. Utter confussion. There had been a break in the family -never really resolved - when one disapproved of the marriage of the other . It Happens. Cheers, Stella At 10:55 PM 19/01/2010, D. Hi List, I have a strange marriage entry for Pierre CHORET. I have a 2 marriages for the same Pierre on 21 January 1686 at Notre Dame de la Nativite, Beauport. On the left hand side of the page, Pierre is getting married to Madeleine GIROUX. That is the one I chose, until I noticed the right hand page. On the right hand page, Pierre, with same parents and date, getting married to Marie Anne BAUGIS. According to the documents that I have carefully found, my line would go through Madeleine GIROUX. I'm really curious about the other marriage and why it would be on same date. Pierre was the son of Mathieu CHORET and Sabastienne VEILLON. I doubt that he was marrying two women at the same time. LOL Sue

Hi List, Since my request last nite, I found more info on Genevieve LANDRI (LANDRY) and confusion at the end. Since the death of Jean Larose (Rosen) I find that Genevieve got married 2 more times. I have carefully followed the progression to be absolutely sure I was following the right person. In 1773, I find Genevieve getting married to Joseph TRUCHON on 11 October 1773 in St. Henri, Mascouche. It does state that she was the widow of Jean Larose. Her surname was spelt as Landry in this marriage. Next, on July 9, 1781, she is getting married to Amable Guerin in St. Louis, Terrebonne. This one states that she is the widow of Joseph Truchon. Her surname is spelt Landri for this event. Now for the confusion. I thought they used the name of last spouse when giving family info on the death. I guess the person only knew of her first marriage. I found a death for Genevieve Landry in Ste. Anne des Plaines. This death was on 3 April 1812. She is said to be 80 years old, which fits in with her birth date of 1731. The confusion is with name of spouse. No middle name has ever been mentioned, that I have found, for Jean Larose. It states that she was the widow of Jean Baptiste Larose. I have not put this death in my database yet as that threw me with name of spouse. I don't want to put the wrong info in my database or Public Tree. Would you all agree that I found the right death for Genevieve, even though spouse name is wrong, as far as last known spouse? There were no family members listed as witnesses to the death. Sue macduff@embarqmail.com
That reference shows her as the "spouse" not the person buried. Can't find anything for her death at PRDH or Ancestry. Fran D. Hi List, It's me again, looking for help. I am looking for the date and place for the death of Genevieve LANDRI (Landry). She was born 27 Feb. 1731. She married Joseph (Jean) ROSEN/LAROSE in St. Francois De Sales, IO in 1860. Joseph died in 1772 in St. Louis, Terrebonne. I have the marriage for their daughter Genevieve, who married Charles BELISLE in 3 April 1780 in St. Louis, Terrebonne. I'm pretty sure that Genevieve LANDRI was still living at the time of this marriage. Just that part of the marriage is faded. I would appreciate any help with Genevieve LANDRI and her death. Sue, Thank You but What I need is a test to determine if my half sister has the same father as I have.. You see I'm adopted into the Cote Family then married into the Seguin Family. but my Family is Willoughby by my Mother and Balcombe by my Father. I have confirmed that I have 3 half sisters by my Mother and 2 half brothers by my Father. The problem is that one of my sisters thinks that She has the same Father as I have. She is different from the other two in coloring and behavior. She wants to find out if She is related to me by both Father and Mother (we already no that our mother is the same) but Father???. This could prove very interesting and fun.. According to the death registration for Alexander Gough he was born in Gananoque, Roman Catholic - but no reference given as to his parents. At the time of his death he lived at Hunter Street in Peterborough. I could not locate the death registration for Eliza Gough nee McMahon at the date and location you gave. I searched through all death registrations in Peterborough during month of August 1891 but there was no Gough and no McMahon entry. Hi Fran, If you have access to Ancestry, this might guide you in the right area. This tree has a lot of sources, including name of a book, a will for Alexander, etc. Supposedly, Alexander's father was William Gough but mother's name unknown.
