    3. Hi Carmen, The free part of the PRDH shows 3 ''Turcot'' ''T urcotte'' as early settlers in Quebec. you may find more at: http://www.genealogie.umontreal.ca/ go to the english version and read most of the free part, it is very interesting. Then click on ''pionneers'' and again read down to '' type a family name'' Best of luck Des. I have Turcotte ancestry and I have traced my forebears from Lowell, MA to Ste-Famille parish, Ile d'Orleans in Quebec. I wonder however if anyone knows where the Turcottes originated in France? > > Carmen

    1. Re: [QUEBEC] Searching for family line of C. C. Alexander, born 1834.

    3. I appreciate your response. The only data I have concerning the background of C. C. Alexander is from the 1870 and 1880 census records from Haywood County, Tennessee, USA. I do have a given name of a wife and some of their descendents, if that would help. It appears his paternal family was originally from Scotland, possibly Ulster Scots, before migrating to the USA. It is interesting that my father's name was James Claude Alexander, who was known as Claude Alexander. He was born in 1893 in the State of Nebraska, USA, but is known to have been in Alberta, Canada, in 1929-30. However, he does not appear to be connected to the same family line as that of C. C. Alexander. Any information that you or anyone else might have would be greatly appreciated, and I would welcome any suggestions for research. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary Boivin" <gboivin@telusplanet.net> To: "Sarah" <versar@theofficenet.com>; <QUEBEC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 10, 2004 12:56 AM Subject: Re: [QUEBEC] Searching for family line of C. 3. It is hard to answer your question because you gave us very little to go on. Sometimes it helps to give us data you already have so that we can then help you. ALEXANDRE is/was a common name in Quebec, so your ancestor may have been called that and had the name Anglicized when he went to the US. I don't have very many in my database but I may have yours in other reference books. I do have 14 ALEXANDREs with one being a Claude ALEXANDRE & the other a Charles ALEXANDRE. BTW I also have 7 ALEXANDERs from Quebec in my database. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah" <versar@theofficenet.com> To: <QUEBEC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 09, 2004 11:35 PM Subject: [QUEBEC] Searching for family line of C.
