    3. Page 204 of Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Acadiennes, volume I, 1999, by Stephen White gives the following: (note I am paraphrasing and translating) Charles Boudrot, son of Claude Boudrot and Catherine Hebert was born and baptized 14 June 1734 in Grand-Pre, Acadia. He married first about 1753, Madeleine Clouatre (Pierre and Marguerite LeBlanc). He married second 22 November 1802, in St-Luc de Langueuil, Quebec, Marie-Louise Perrault (Laurent and Louise Boileau) Hope this helps, Rob Roy -----Original Message----- From: Discussion [mailto:discussion@sympatico.ca] Sent: Friday, June 11, 2004 8:38 PM To: QUEBEC-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [QUEBEC] Stephen A. White's books now at BCGS - Surrey, BC Hi Brenda, Could you do a look up for me? I have seen with Bergeron and other publications that Jean-Baptiste Boudreau/Boudrot married (2nd marriage) to Marguerite Boissonneau in Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie (L'Acadie) on Feb. 21st 1803. Jean-Baptiste's parents are Charles Boudrot & Magdeleine Clouatre. This Charles Boudrot is said to be the son of Francois Boudrot & Marguerite Pitre in Bergeron and other publications as well. A friend just told me he has discovered recently that Charles's parent were not Francois & Marguerite Pitre BUT Claude Boudrot & Catherine Hebert. He also claim that Mr. Stephen White is also stating that Charles 's parents are Claude Boudrot & Catherine Hebert. Can you verify with Mr. White's publication what he is saying about this Charles Boudrot's parents? If this prove to be right, I think many of us will have to use liquid paper for corrections. I am descended from Madeleine Carrier, who marired Antoine Hamel 12 May 1806 in Trois Rivieres, Quebec. Madeleine (some sources say Magdeleine) Carrier was the d/o Etienne Carrier, who married Charlote Begin. Etienne Carrier was the son of Jacques Charles Carrier, who married Catherine Huard dit Desilets 10 Apr 1736 in Levis. Jacques Charles Carrier was the son of Jean Carrier and Jeanne Samson (If this is the same Jeanne that you noted above, I seem to have a different last name for her.) Any information on the above people would be most welcome. Of course, I'd love to know the source of the information as well. So far, I've not been able to find anything on these people. You are the first that I have seen mentioning this surname. Maryellen

    1. In Memorium -- Dr. Robert Westbury
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. In Memorium Dr. Robert Clifton Westbury 1936 - 2004 It is with the most sincere regret that we have learned of the death of Dr. Robert Clifton Westbury on 4 June 2004. At the age of 68 Bob died peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Bob was an energetic and enthusiastic supporter of our campaign to regain public access to Historic Census records until his illness forced him to pass his torch to others. He was a driving force in promoting our first legal action that resulted in the release and placing online of the 1906 Census of the NorthWestern Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He pushed for our legal action when some others of us were less enthusiastic about taking that course. Were it his decision alone we would have proceeded with the legal action a full year earlier than we did. It is ironic that his passing took place within a few days of our second legal action being heard in Federal Court. We imagine his spirit sitting in the back of the room rooting for Lois Sparling in her dealings before the Court. His frequent postings to the Canada-Census-Campaign mail list before becoming ill promoted much lively discussion on the list. While some may have considered his postings provocative it is believed that Bob enjoyed playing the part of 'devil's advocate'. In this role he occasionally suggested the use of 'civil disobedience' to publicize our campaign. On my recent trip to Calgary Doug Joudrey and I paid a visit to Bob. His illness had made him very weak and it was difficult for him to speak. He was, however, alert and aware and knew who we were. He appreciated that we had come to see him. Robert Westbury is the second member of the Canada Census Committee to die without seeing the successful conclusion of our efforts. The first was Donald Nisbett. Both joined the Canada Census Committee at the time of its formation Both have made significant contributions to our campaign. When we are finally successful in regaining continued public access to all Historic Census records it will be due, in no small part, to the contributions they have made to that effort. We have tendered our condolences to Bob's immediate and extended family. Rest in Peace Bob -- You will be remembered. 1. A "Messalliance" Marriage
    2. Jerry Lesperance
    3. Thought some of you might want to hear of a weird event that I ran across in preparing my paper relating to the French soldiers who were in the Seven Years War (French and Indian War). Jean-Baptiste Guillaume PREVOST (or PERROT), Sieur of Basserodes, Chevalier of the St-Louis Cross, and Captain in the Languedoc Regiment, was married to Marie-Luce QUESSY , an Acadian and widow of Jean-Baptiste CIRE (or CYR), on 20 Sept 1760 at Deschambault, with pastor MENAGE officiating. In a letter to Fr. Menage dated 1 Dec 1760, the diocesan Vicar-General, Fr. Briand found it surprising that an experienced, respectable and reputable pastor of the diocese celebrated the marriage of M. de BASSERODES with negligence in employing the prescribed procedures. M. Levis, then Commander of all French soldiers in North America, did not grant any grace (favors) to BASSERODES when he returned to France because the marriage was a "mesalliance" (mismatch) for a Chevalier of St-Louis. I couldn't find much on Marie-Luce except PRDH tells us that she and BASSERODES attended the baptism of Jean-Baptiste Archange GIDE (son of a soldier in BASSERODES' Company) on 26 Sept 1760 at Batiscan. She was shown as the widow of CIRE (CYR) and not as the wife of BASSERODES. Go figure. Jerry

    1. Please Include Time Frame in Subject Line of Your Request
    2. Jerry Lesperance
    3. Hi, It would save some us time if people requesting information would include the Time Frame in the Subject line of their request. It could be 1746, or c. 1746, or mid-1700's. Reason is that some of us can be of help in certain time periods but not other periods. For instance I have resources at home that allow me to be of substantial help for years before 1800. However it is rare that I can help for requests in the 1800's and 1900's. Jerry, Hawaii

    1. D-DAY -- A Busy Weekend!!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- This D-DAY 60th Anniversary weekend will not be as busy as it was June 6, 1944 -- and many things are happening!! Should anyone desire to view the actual ceremonies at Normandy one had better set the alarm clock for 4 AM! EST. The ceremony will be hosted by Lloyd Robertson of CTV and will be re-broadcast at 1 PM Sunday, June 6th -- due to time differences.. It is nice to know that 62 veterans, not only 60, will be there, courtesy of Stephen Harper and Jack Layton -- they gave up their seats to the vets. Others include 72 staffers and others with the Prime Minister. At Sunnybrook Veteran's Wings, where my husband resides, Ontario's Lieutenant-Governor James Bartleman will dedicate a therapeutic garden in back of the Kilgour Wing. Following lunch, a March Past with Salute to the Veterans will include 1,000 soldiers and bands, marching to the Legislature Building - a distance of 9.9 kms -- the distance the Canadians marched on June 6, 1944. Locally, in Brampton - and for the first time -- the two Royal Canadian Legion branches are holding joint ceremonies. For more details about Juno Beach, OUR Canadian memorial, click on http://www.junobeach.org/ There are other sites -- all updated!! I am hoping the Ulster Accordion Band will be one of the Canadian bands, as they were last year for the dedication of the Canadian Juno Beach centre. Please remember -- one of the reasons we desire the release of the 1911 census records is that names of those who fought and lost their lives on behalf of us will be listed on the 1911 records, scheduled for release on June 1, 2003 -- a bit late!!!
