Hello, I am again beginning to search for information on my father's side of my family. I have thus far been able to find my great grandparents, living in Vermont in 1840. I have no clue to this couple's marriage or where exactly in Canada they originated. I am wondering if there may be someone on this list who may provide some clues as to any "dit" names that may have been used from the name "Sarrazin/Sarrasin" I would be most appreciative of any information as I have been stuck here for quite a few years. I did find some "Sarrazin" living in L'Assomption, Portage, Canada in the late 1790's and can't figure out how to tie this line into mine. The birth date's fit, but without a marriage record or some record showing my ggrandfather's parent's, I am at a loss. Thanks in advance and I hope someone out there may be able to steer me in the right direction. Pam Harbison

Hello, I'd like to ask if anyone has found that the surnames, ROBINS, ROBBINS, and ROBINSON were interchangeable on Census forms in Quebec Province in the 1800's. For a "distant cousin" I am looking for the parents of a Henry ROBINS or ROBBINS who was reportedly born around 1824. He was probably born in either Vermont or Quebec. Around 1855, he married Hannah HENDERSON from Argenteuil County, Quebec. They appear to have moved to VT around the time of their marriage, as their ten children appear to have been born in North Hero, VT, (near Canadian border). Hannah's sister was my ancestor, Elizabeth HENDERSON, who had married her cousin, Robert KERR, in Argenteuil County in 1851. They were children of a family-group of KERR's and HENDERSON's which arrived in Argenteuil County around 1823. Of the Census data I have seen, there were three ROBINSON families in Argenteuil County in 1842. And, I just spotted a widow, Mrs. Almira ROBINS, in Argenteuil County in 1881. Were they possibly one family with different spellings of their name? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) "I like to take walks in the woods, but I can't see the forest for the family-tree." (me) "I complained because I had no shoes, and then I met a man who had no feet." (loose translation of poet, Sa'di's "Gulistan")

To all:- The name GLOBAL GENEALOGY is well-known to many of us. Their store may be researched at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/ You will find there is a new address -- 43 Main Street South at Campbellville, Ontario -- further information on the site. The official opening will be Saturday, June 19, 2004 -- and to add to the opening, two members of Halton-Peel Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be attending to gather signatures on census petitions. Rick Roberts, of Global Genealogy, generally keeps petitions on the counter, but Saturday will be too busy so Halton-Peel Branch members are assisting. At the same time, the two members will be able to promote their own branch, possibly gain new members, have an item to give to signers of petitions. This is a suggestion that all branches of ALL genealogical and historical societies across Canada grab this opportunity to make themselves known and also provide a service for the Canada Census Campaign. I will answer any questions privately if one desires to learn more. Muriel M. The following was submitted to me some time ago and with June 28th looming too closely, hopefully all know his/her political candidates. The site covers many subjects -- except why many people are receiving voter's cards - more than one -- while some are not. Advance voting is available this Friday, Saturday and Monday. Searching at this site is by your postal code. Muriel ================== You will find what you are looking for at: http://www.elections.ca/home.asp?textonly=false when you get that site click on " Electoral Districts" (top left) then "Canada's 308 New Electoral Districts" then " click here to view the new 308 Electoral Districts" then pick your province and then your district Very Interesting site lots of information

To all:- I guess I really goofed -- and apologies for my errors. December 6, 1917 was the date of the Halifax Explosion, the first part of "The Shattered City" was on CBC this evening beginning at 8 PM -- the second part will be tomorrow evening, 8 PM with time difference for Newfoundland-Labrador. To the ones who picked up on my mistake -- June 6, 1944 was the 60th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. December 7, 1941 was the bombing of Pearl Harbour with the Arizona becoming a shine and underwater cemetery for crew members. Tune in tomorrow evening to The Shattered City to learn why Boston receives a Christmas tree from Nova Scotia each year. Apologies for the errors!! Muriel M. My sincere apologies -- and yes, June 6, 1944 was D-Day in Normandy -- and the Halifax Explosion was December 6, 1917. Shall I state I am a bit embarrassed -- my pink face is not sunburn! To all:- December 6 was an important date, both in 1917 and in 1944. December 6, 1944 was D-Day in Normandy, France but the following is about the other December 6. The first part of "The Shattered City" was on CBC, started at 8:00 PM -- with time difference for Newfoundland-Labrador. Gordon Pinsent is part of the show -- the televised documentary of what happened in Halifax Harbour on December 6, 1917. The second part will be televised tomorrow evening -- same time. Readers will note I have copied in Boston-States-L@rootsweb.com and all native Nova Scotians know why the annual Christmas tree is sent to Boston before December 6th each year -- tune in and you will learn the reason. Hi Roy, Thank you very much for your time to research for my question. I guess, unless somebody else can bring contradictory information, it solve this issue. Charles Boudrot married to Magdeleine Clouatre is the son of Claude Boudrot & Catherine Hebert. Their son Jean-Baptiste Boudrot got married to Marguerite Boissonneau. I guess corrections should be made to Bergeron, Vol. 2 page 50 item 320 and page 47 item 188 and page 44 item 42. He married first about 1753, Madeleine Clouatre (Pierre and Marguerite LeBlanc). He married second 22 November 1802, in St-Luc de Langueuil, Quebec, Marie-Louise Perrault (Laurent and Louise Boileau) Hope this helps, Rob Roy -----Original Message----- From: Discussion [mailto:discussion@sympatico.ca] Sent: Friday, June 11, 2004 8:38 PM To: QUEBEC-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [QUEBEC] Stephen A. White's books now at BCGS - Surrey, BC Hi Brenda, Could you do a look up for me? I have seen with Bergeron and other publications that Jean-Baptiste Boudreau/Boudrot married (2nd marriage) to Marguerite Boissonneau in Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie (L'Acadie) on Feb. 21st 1803. Jean-Baptiste's parents are Charles Boudrot & Magdeleine Clouatre. This Charles Boudrot is said to be the son of Francois Boudrot & Marguerite Pitre in Bergeron and other publications as well. A friend just told me he has discovered recently that Charles's parent were not Francois & Marguerite Pitre BUT Claude Boudrot & Catherine Hebert. He also claim that Mr. Stephen White is also stating that Charles 's parents are Claude Boudrot & Catherine Hebert. Can you verify with Mr. White's publication what he is saying about this Charles Boudrot's parents? If this prove to be right, I think many of us will have to use liquid paper for corrections. Thank you for your help.
