    2. She and Albert JARRY seem to have migrated from Quebec Province as single people in 1919, and they seem to have migrated with another family. I have found them in the 1920 Census for Chicopee, MA, but I can't read the handwriting too well. The surname of the family seems to be something like .. DEANER (parents and children), and Albert and Yvonne and Emil (LEVESQUE ??) (sp?) were living in their home as boarders. Albert and Yvonne must have married shortly after the Census was taken in 1920, as their first child was born in either very late 1920 or in early 1921. I don't know what happened to their marriage as Mrs. Yvonne JARRY remarried in 1952. ========================== According to the 1930 Census, Albert JARRY and his wife Yvonne, both age 34, were living at 42 Ludger St (actually, Ludger Avenue) in the Aldenville borough of Chicopee, Massachusetts. The record indicates that both were 24 years of age when married, so your supposition that they married shortly after the 1920 census is on the mark. There are three children: daughter Jeannette, age 9, sons Armand, 8, and Roger, 4½. Also living there were Antoinette LAMOTHE, sister-in-law of the head of household (Yvonne's sister), age 26, and a boarder, Louis Lachance, age 52. Monty

    1. JARRY and LAMOTHE .. (b!895 Quebec?) to MA / USA in 1919
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, I have just discovered that the maiden name of my grandfather's third wife was probably Yvonne LAMOTHE. I just thought I would offer this information in case it would help someone else researching these surnames. It seems there were other JARRY families in that part of Massachusetts (Springfield, Greenfield, etc.) and they were probably working in the mills and factories in that area. We had thought Yvonne's maiden name was LAMONT, but the Census forms show it as LAMOTHE. And the 1930 Census for Chicopee shows that Yvonne's sister, Antoinette LAMOTHE, 26, was living with them. It says she migrated in 1923. (A boarder in the home was Louis LaCHANCE, Age 52, divorced.) Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)

    1. Albert JARRY, Quebec to MA/USA, 1919
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, I'd like to repost my interest in learning about a couple, Albert and Yvonne JARRY, who probably lived in Quebec Province before 1919. They immigrated to Massachusetts in 1919, and had their children there in the 1920's. They were Age 34 when they moved down here. They probably lived in the Springfield, MA, area, and were in Chicopee, MA, in the 1930 Census. Yvonne's maiden name might have been LAMONT or LAMOTHE. I had thought her maiden name was LAMONT, but her sister seems to be living with them in 1930, and her name was Antoinette LAMOTHE. I don't know whether Albert died in the late 1940's or around 1950, or whether they were divorced. But, Yvonne remarried in 1952. She then married my grandfather, Silas "Dean" LEWIS, and lived with him in Chicopee until his death in 1961. (I just found an Albert JARRY in the SSDI Index who was born around the same time, but who died in Florida in 1964.) Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) P.S. By checking the JARRY Message Boards at www.genforum.com and www.familyhistory.com I noticed that there were several JARRY families who came down to New England around the same time, and some came from the same towns so were probably related.

    3. Pam - Take a look at this page at the AFGS website for surname variations. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~afgs/index1.html These include both dit names and other variations that have been published in books, and that researchers have found while searching their families. While you are there, go to the main page at http://www.afgs.org/ and find the link at the left for members' email This will bring you to a list of AFGS members and the surnames they are researching. Maybe you will find someone researching the same families. It lists first the enlisted men and then the officers who served France in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and the Illinois Country during the 18th century. 1. Post-1901 Census:- Please Complete The Correct Census Petition
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. This message may be forwarded in United States, etc. To all:- Earlier this year, Gordon Watts put together a NEW census petition to be signed and hopefully assist with release of the 1911 census records, scheduled for June 1, 2003. To date, I have received several of the OLD & ANCIENT ones -- which might not be accepted. Go to http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/ These are the ONLY census petitions which might be accepted. Also, DO NOT WRITE on a copy which does not have a place to write your name and where signatures were gathered -- one was received today. When Gordon and I receive the petitions, should a sticky note or a slip of paper not be included, we credit the first name on the petition -- basically for location. The end of this "sermon" -- use every opportunity to gather signatures!! If placing in a library, keep Page 1 at home, place Page 2 wherever you are able -- then attach Page 1 later. Page 2 may be double-sided. Family History Groups and branches of Ontario Genealogical Society are getting many signatures. There are many Non-Resident ones also coming in -- many from interesting places. The assistance of our many friends is deeply appreciated. At present there is NO census bill, but we are getting prepared as we "feel" there will be one in the fall. Also, do not worry if you send the Senate petitions to Gordon, or the House of Commons ones to me -- we like exchanging mail!! A weekend coming up -- more signatures -- teenagers accepted! Muriel M.
