Bonjour/ Good day to everyone! Please forgive my very limited French- I haven't practised since grade 11, almost 10 years ago, so I'm very rusty. If requested, I can try to translate my message into French, but until that time, I will post in English, as it will make a lot more sense! : ) I am researching Jean-Baptiste DESROSIERS (born 1851, St. Hughes, Bagot, Quebec) and Aurelie GUERTIN (born 1855, St. Hughes, Bagot, Quebec). Jean-Baptiste's parents were Chrysologue DESROSIERS and Catherine DUPRE. Aurelie was the daughter of Alexis GUERTIN and Aurelie GIARD. Jean-Baptiste and Aurelie were married 19 January 1875 (place unknown, but presumed St. Hughes). They had between 14 and 18 children, most of whom have been identified and at least partially traced. One child married a FONTAINE female, also from St. Hughes area, and I believe they ended up in Manitoba. Several other children moved to Massachusetts, USA, and married, staying there. One of these married a BEAUDETTE female, another married a BRODEUR female, another married LIMERICK male. Others travelled through the USA and immigrated to British Columbia, Canada. I've tried to give a very brief overview... if more information is to anyone's benefit, please let me know and I will send a more detailed account to either this list or individuals off-list. Any information or suggestions would be gratefully accepted! Hello, I just remembered that a discussion took place on one of the Newfoundland Lists this week - about .. how EXPENSIVE.. everything is in Canada with "taxes." So, I should have offered to donate $20 U.S. ($30 U.S.?) .. to anyone near Argenteuil County who could drive over to Lakefield and look at church records. (Or, wherever the church records for the "former Township of Gore" are held.) (Would send personal check or US cash .. after the fact.) And, I'm sure there are others who would donate towards "gasoline costs" or other "research expenses." Enjoy your weekend ! Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) P.S. I'm heading out for the day shortly, so I won't be returning to my e-mails till later.
Hello, I'd like to ask if anyone lives in Argenteuil County. If so, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to drive to Lakefield to see if "death records" are available for the 1850 to 1880 timeframe. Having said that, as a New England resident, I don't know what kinds of records are available in Quebec Province for the 1800's ! I am looking for someone to be able to locate ... the official "death records" for the following people - which might HOPEFULLY show the names of their parents, or at least their father, and which county in Ireland they were born in: William HENDERSON died in 1870 in Island Brook. Mary (KERR) HENDERSON died in 1881 in Lakefield. Patrick KERR died in 1866 in Lakefield. Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR died in 1850, probably in (former) Gore Township. Levi MILLER (from NH/USA) died in 1858 in Lakefield. Elizabeth (KERR) MILLER died in 1866 in Lakefield. John KERR died in 1862 in (former) Gore Township. Ann (HENDERSON) KERR died in 1851 in Deux-Montagnes (?). I am hoping that tidbits of information on the official church records in Lakefield might open up a "whole, new world" to all the people researching these four couples. (Note: Researchers disagree as to whether Patrick KERR and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON were siblings, or whether Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON were siblings. I am hoping their "death records" might provide a hint or clue to this mystery.) (Note: The other couple who came with this family-group was Samuel and Catherine HENDERSON. But, they moved away, probably during the 1830's, possibly to Ontario Province.) (All arrived 1823-1825) (Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that Samuel's wife was Catherine KERR.) John METCALF's on-line family-history document shows William HENDERSON (and probably his brother, Samuel HENDERSON) being born in Sligo, Sligo, IRELAND, and .. marrying there (and some of their children being born there). But, all the references to the KERR's only show a reference to IRELAND. (It is my "guess" that the KERR's and HENDERSON's traveled together .. before they left for Canada, and that the KERR's were also in County Sligo. (Any official research in County Sligo, Ireland, would be VERY costly.) Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) P.S. I hear from people on the Lists that parts of very western Canada are already having "bad snowstorms." How is the weather in Quebec Province?
I am looking for reference to a birth record of , FIEGEHEN , Martha , Eleanor born at I'ile-aux-noix , Quebec in 1851. Fathers name was : William FIEGEHEN Mothers name was Mary Ann FIEGEHEN (Maiden name not known ). If some kind soul could help with some information it would be much appreciated, Thank You

Hello, After knowing about John METCALF's on-line "family document" for 3-4 years, this morning I am realizing that he doesn't have too much on the next generation of the families of William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON and his brother, Samuel and Catherine (?) HENDERSON. This is surprising as William and Mary HENDERSON had ..12..children ! (Two more died as babies.) I know very little about Samuel and Catherine HENDERSON, but I believe they might have had at least four children. They possibly had more after they left Argenteuil County and headed for ??? (possibly Ontario Province). In addition to that, William's first-born, Samuel HENDERSON, seems to have had about ..15.. children with two wives. I was wondering if I offered a brief outline of the children in the above families, whether anyone could offer more information on them: William and Mary HENDERSON (born and married in County SLIGO, IRELAND) arrived in Argenteuil County in 1823. Their children were: Samuel HENDERSON, born 1814 SLIGO (married Hannah HUNTER and Mary JOHNSTONE) William HENDERSON, born 1817 SLIGO (married Jane SUTTON, born Ireland) Jane HENDERSON, born 1819 SLIGO (married ???) Mary HENDERSON, born 1821 SLIGO (married James KERR; photo on web site about Mille Isles) John HENDERSON, born 1823 SLIGO (married Ellen McINLEY) Elizabeth HENDERSON, born 1827 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (my ancestor; married Robert KERR; eventually went to MA, USA) Robert HENDERSON, born 1829 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married Mary BRINKMAN; went to Toronto; had 13 children) James HENDERSON, born 1830 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married Eliza WILSON) Hannah HENDERSON, born 1832 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married Henry ROBINS; moved to VT; then moved to MA) Edward HENDERSON, born 1834 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married Mary WILSON) Sarah HENDERSON, born 1840 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married ???) Joseph HENDERSON, born 1842 Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada (married Mary CARMICHAEL) Samuel and Catherine HENDERSON reportedly (census) had two children when they first arrived in 1823, or shortly after arriving. We do not know their names. _____ HENDERSON, b1810-1820? _____ HENDERSON, b1810-1820? Church records show they had: William HENDERSON, born 1825-1830? Jane HENDERSON, born 1825-1830? This family only seems to have remained in Quebec Province until the 1830's. William's son, Samuel HENDERSON had the following children: With Hannah HUNTER, he had: William HENDERSON, born 1840, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada Sarah HENDERSON, born 1843, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada Samuel HENDERSON, born 1844, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada Hannah Jane HENDERSON, born 1849, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada James HENDERSON, born 1853, Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada With Mary Ann JOHNSTONE, he had: Alexander HENDERSON John HENDERSON Elizabeth HENDERSON Rachael HENDERSON Mary Ann HENDERSON Robert HENDERSON Margaret HENDERSON Alice HENDERSON Lucinda HENDERSON Priscilla HENDERSON (The children of Samuel and Mary HENDERSON were probably born between 1855 and 1875. There might be more details on John's web site.) FYI: John and Ann (HENDERSON) KERR had ..9.. children. Their first was born in County Sligo, Ireland, and the other 8 were born in Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada. FYI: James and Mary (HENDERSON) KERR had ..9.. children. This family seems to have remained living in Argenteuil County, Quebec, for a long time. FYI: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jmetcalf/ FYI: As I've mentioned before, both the HENDERSON's and the KERR's seem to have been either "family" or "close friends" for a great many years in IRELAND, probably in County Sligo. There were both HENDERSON's and KERR's in SLIGO going back to the mid-1700's. And, some remained there throughout the 1800's. The family-group which traveled together in 1823 (or came separately between 1823-1825) were: William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON Patrick and Elizabeth (KERR??) KERR Miss Elizabeth KERR (married Levi MILLER in Canada) John and Ann (HENDERSON) KERR Samuel and Catherine (?) HENDERSON (It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that Catherine was a KERR.) During 2002, at least two people told me about other HENDERSON's who arrived in Quebec Province in the early 1800's: ..Henry HENDERSON, Robert HENDERSON, Samuel HENDERSON, Thomas HENDERSON, William HENDERSON, James HENDERSON, and Mary Ann HENDERSON, all born between 1798 and 1823. Again ... unknown parents. ..Mention of ..7.. HENDERSON brothers, again from IRELAND, who initially settled in Huntington County, Quebec Province. (This County is on the NY border.) NOTE: William and Samuel HENDERSON (et al) settled in what was then called "Gore Township" in Argenteuil County (which is near Lakefield and Lachute). There is an area known as "the Gore" in Huntington County. And, there is another area referred to as "the Gore" over the border in Ontario Prov. (There is a web site and mailing list for "the former Township of Gore in Argenteuil.) FYI: My ancestors, probably cousins, Robert and Elizabeth (HENDERSON) KERR, moved to Compton County around 1870, I believe. They had ..6.. children. Their son, William KERR, migrated to Boston, MA, around 1875. All except one daughter also came down to Boston about 10-15 years later. Henry and Hannah (HENDERSON) ROBINS initially migrated to very northern VT, but then came down to the area around Worcester, MA. So, the two sisters were about an hour's drive from each other (as of today's driving). I hope this "long posting" helps someone. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)

I am looking for a marriage between Harry Van Norman DUGGAN and Muriel DRAKE in Montreal 30 June, 1905. Would anyone be able to find it for me and be able to tell me who the parents of Harry Van Norman DUGGAN are please. Any chance of a newspaper article if it was placed in the paper? I have done very little research in Quebec so don't know whether this is possible to find out or not. Thank You, Joan Hedberg from British Columbia
