Hi every one, I also tried find this elusive couple: From the two mariage rep for the county of Kamouraska (one masc, one fem) No such marriage under Paradis=Fortin, nor Fortin=Paradis. No such marriage either in the Loiselle marriage index. So I give up unless we get new facts . Des. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Francis T. Watters" <wattersft@gowebway.com>

Metalic or Metallac etc is a very prominent Abenaki Name in New England and parts of Canada. Nancy LeCompte 's site,<< http://www.avcnet.org/ne-do-ba/ >> has a lot of information on the genealogy and locations of many Abenaki families. Fran wilcox
Would anyone have any info for the Ascott area re 'Metallic/Matalic' or 'Pwascan'. Someone researching the Ascott records left this marriage record copy at our library in New Hampshire for: 4 December 1825 re Danny? Girnot Matalic? & Molly Ann Pwascan? of Ascot (both Indians). My copy of the record is not clear. I bought, through the Internet, the 1825 Census by Jay Mack Holbrook & they are not on it but perhaps they entered Indians in a separate place that JM Holbrook didn't pick up although that's is doubtful - just a thought. Thanks, Linda

Good Morning Listers! I am looking for a researcher who would be willing to take on a very large "brick wall" that spreads from Belleville, Ontario to Cornwall to Quebec and eventually forward into Wisconsin (USA) though I have most of that covered. I already have had many researchers who have all helped me a great deal and have had some wonderful ideas and done some amazing research, but the "brick wall" is still there! I would like to see if you might have some kind of a "plan" to further this research. However, I could only send to you the "basic outline" to start with as it would take too much time and too many emails to send you everything at first. Of course, I would send you - eventually - ALL of the information that I now have and all of the research that has been done over the years, including copies of documents. I realize that "planning" this research would take some time and I am willing to pay some "on account" for that time also and to work WITH you as much as possible. I am also willing to pay a reasonable amount for time spent in research "locations", time spent traveling (gas mileage only), copies made and postage paid etc. This is not a simple family to locate - very elusive and frustrating! - as there was a great deal of "un-truths" or out and out lies told throughout the ages. I have much documentation so I am not just "looking around" in various places to make wild guesses. I KNOW some of the family was where I have them located from the 1820's through the 1900's, but it's my GGrandfather's parentage and siblings - if any - that have me stumped! Please contact me OFFLINE if you have any "concrete" suggestions or would be willing to take on this project. I don't take up space in the maillists with my research "problems!" If you feel that you can spend the time and effort to help me, then please contact me at the above email as I would love to hear from you and read about any ideas or suggestions that you might have. Thank you for any help that you might be able to give to me. Nan Clark Wisconsin USA

Hi all, A newbie to the list here. I've just discovered that my grandfather immagrated to Canada for in 1929 before returning to Britain before WWII. I'm just posting details about the family in case anyone is also researching something similar. Reginald Dykes arrived in Quebec on 19/07/1929 on the Duchess of Athol. It is believed that he worked in/on a coal mine somewhere in Canada. On 23/05/1930 his wife, Edith, and his first son, Reginald, arrived on the Duchess of Richmond. I believe while in Canada they had one son, Charles Edward Patrick Dykes. Cheers, Daniel
Hi, Looking for the marriage of Pierre Ouellet m. Malvina Fortin (1850-1900) in the area of Rimouski (sacré-Coeur), Quebec. Thank you Claude
Hello everyone, I am looking for a passenger list for either the Duchess of Richmond 1932 or Duchess of Bedford 1928. I am looking for information on ELLEN BOSTON who emigrated to Canada form England. There are 2 Ellen Bostons on the Immigration records and both details match exactly. Perhaps she emigrated twice? Could someone tell me how I can find out more? Or perhaps do a look up for me? I have the details. Thank you so much, any helpful info. gratefully received! Carol Chapman

Renee; I know that this is a question from Rod, but you seem to have access to some Kamouraska area marriage listings. If so, you might want to check in St-Jean-Port-Joli as there were some Fortin families living there at the time. Weddings were usually held in the bride's parish, so you might find something there (if you have the repertoire). There were several Paradis families in Ste-Anne de Kamouraska also. Those two villages are quite close.
