Hello, Someone on the LANCSGEN List just provided a URL for the part of the NAC web site which deals with Canadian newspapers. When I did a search for KERR and then HENDERSON, I found a newspaper which offered photographs by what seems like three different HENDERSON photographers in the years around 1880. I was just wondering if anyone knew who these HENDERSON's were. The photograpahs displayed seem to have been about scenes in most of the Provinces. http://www.collectionscanada.ca/cin/index-e.html Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) P.S. My KERR and HENDERSON ancestors came together as a family-group in the 1820's and settled in Argenteuil County, Quebec. They reportedly came from Sligo, Ireland.
Dear Fellow Researchers: a. I thought it may be helpful to let *Northeastern Ontario* researchers know of some recent additions made to the *Northeastern Ontario Gravemarkers Gallery* at: http://nocgg.maddoc.net Many of these additions have been possible due to some excellent and kind help from volunteers....! 1. Added about 6 Cemeteries to the Manitoulin District page. 2. Added hundreds of photos for the LaSalle Cemetery in Sudbury. 3. Added hundreds of photos for the Park Lawn cemetery in Sudbury. b. In addition, several additions have been made to the Historic/Nostalgic Web Site at: http://nocggh.maddoc.net 1. Added more photos and names from *North Bay Normal School/Teachers' College* yearbooks. 2. Added several class photos with names for the *Powassan District High School*. 3. Added many yearbook photos with names for *North Bay Collegiate Institute and Vocational School*. (NBCI&VS) 3. Added many photos with names for the *North Bay* area. c. The yearbook and other nostalgic photos have been very helpful for folks trying to locate ancestors. One must acknowledge, if a child is located in a yearbook picture....it is a good bet that you likely have also located the parents.....! d. A new search engine has been added to the Nostalgic site. Just type in your full surname and search. e. A few folks have contacted me as they had lost the URLs for these web sites. Please record the sites as a favourite in your browser. As an alternative, one can always go to the google search engine and search for *NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO GRAVEMARKERS* and the site will come up in the top "5 hits". Good luck with your research. Eileen, I believe that you have found the right family. The younger Thomas Crozier, the one married to Catherine McGinley would be the one I was inquiring about...the timeframe for his marriage and for the marriage of his son John( the eldest child I was referring to) fits quite nicely. Thanks for your help... Can anyone help me to determine the date and place of marriage for Thomas Crozier and his wife Catherine ? In both the 1881 and 1901 census records the family is found in Ste-Agathe, Lotbiniere, Quebec. Their oldest child was born in October of 1873 according to the 1901 census. Their marriage may have occurred in very early 1873 or in 1872 as a guess. I'm looking for the names of the parents of Thomas Crozier and I'm also seeking the surname of his wife Catherine and the names of her parents. Thanks in advance for any possible help or advice. Does anyone have the 1871 Census for Waterloo. I'm looking for someone who probably left the US during the Civil War for a short period. Cephas R. Crawford and his wife Annie are missing in the US for that period and I have a letter from him dated 18 March 1866 from Waterloo. Many thanks in advance, Linda

Since my recent posting requesting that completed Post 1901 Census petitions be sent to us now, I have had a number of requests to advise the addresses to send them to. Ignoring the fact that the addresses to send petitions to are shown on the same page of the Post 1901 Census Project website that the petitions are downloaded from, I will give the addresses again here. Petitions for the House of Commons should be sent to myself at Gordon A. Davidson 25 Crestview Avenue Brampton, Ontario L6W 2R8 However, due to time constraints at this time they would be better sent directly to Senator Lorna Milne at The Hon. Lorna Milne, Senator Senate of Canada Ottawa, Ontario Canada K1A 0A4 Petitions sent to Senator Milne that are mailed within Canada do not require any postage. Any mailed from outside of Canada unfortunately do require proper postage to be applied. Numbers of signatures on petitions for the House of Commons and the Senate are approaching 70,000, but we can always use more. Hopefully within a short time we will no longer have a need for further signatures on petitions. As of today, Parliament will sit for only 48 more days before the Summer recess begins on 10 June 2005. There is a possibility of an extension of up to 10 sitting days that would take the start of Summer recess to 24 June. In either case, time is running short and we should be asking our MPs to ensure that Bill S-18 is passed and enacted before Parliament is recessed for the Summer. Happy Hunting Gordon A. Bonjour Judy, the lakes were indeed a major route south for Canadian Immigrants. But for the time frame you speak of, the railroad was in full swing and carried the largest number of people across the borders and across the US. Fran Wilcox
Bonjour mes amis, My relative came from Ireland and entered at Quebec. He stayed there until the Civil War was over in the USA, about 1864-65, and then went to Iowa. I was wondering how people moved on to the US. Was it thru the lakes and then out or across Canada then down or straight down then across? Any info would be helpful. I know it could probably be any of those but was there any main routes? Merci, Judy C. PS- I've just used about all of my French, sorry
Hello, I'm seeking any information regarding the ancestry of my 6th great grandparents, Alexander Ross and Helen Bayne. What I have so far is that Alexander (supposedly Lord of Fearn) was born at Tain, Scotland @1710. He married Helen Bayne (b. @1712 at Tulloch, Scotland) @1732 at Tain. They had a son (my ancestor) William, b.@1733 at Tain, who later came to Quebec with the Fraser Highlanders 78th Regiment to fight the French. Afterwards, he remained in Canada, where he married Marie-Josephte Proulx. His descendants eventually settled in Rimouski. Haven't been able to make any headway on my Scottish line beyond Alexander and Helen and would appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks. Rick Steigelman

To all who desire the 1911 census released:- Members of the Senate of Canada are in his or her respective areas for this coming week, after proceedings on Bill S-18, An Act to Amend the Statistics Act. The Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met on Thursday, February 24 for a brief meeting, with posting at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index.htm The complete report of the meeting has been posted. The Report will be given next week, followed by Third Reading -- there were no amendments to Bill S-18 made by the committee. Should anyone wish to complete a belated Senate or Non-Resident petition, download from above site -- my address is there. Your signature on a petition is YOUR voice in Ottawa. [Non-Resident Petitions are for those not residing in Canada] When Bill S-18 moves to the House of Commons, all petitions will go to Gordon A. Watts. These are being accepted now as well. I am hopeful, as is Senator Lorna Milne that Bill S-18 will be passed. Please, NO letters to any Senators re Bill S-18. However, take a peek at the House of Commons scoreboard -- if your MP still shows a BLUE ? or something other than GOLD, why not check with him or her. Copies are requested. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm Let's have a fat envelope to deliver to Senator Lorna Milne on Saturday!!! Muriel M. Yes Andre was un enfant Naturel Andre was adopted by Rene Siret dit Lafleur & Anne Fayet. residents of Beauport, Andre dit Jean Paradis is the son of Jean & Claude Damizé wife of Pierre Perthius. Anne fayet was born about 1651 in the parish of Saint-Laurent in Paris, the daughter of Denis Fayet and Marie Guilbert. She left for Canada in 1670 at about age 19, bringing with her goods worth an estimated 200 livres for her dowry. On 08 September 1670, Anne married René Siret dit Lafleur at Québec city, the marriage contract drawn up 24 August by notary Becquet. René was born about 1631 in the Paris of Saint-André in Bournezeau (arrondissement de La-Roche-sur-Yon, diocese of Luçon) Poitou, the son of Pierre Siret and Marie Ducos. René and Anne settled at Beauport, but did not have any children. Anne Fayet died at Beauport after 07 January 1697. René Siret dit Lafleur died 26 February 1718 and was buried the same day at Beauport. (King's Daughter and Founding Mothers by Peter J. Gagné) I found two PRDH bapt. certificat for the same person, but they differ 1) one says Bapt in Montreal the other Pointe aux-Trembles.. 2) the certificat numbers are different 3)One says registered in Montreal the other in Point-aux-Trembles 4)Where did the bapt actually take place? 5)who was the priest..they are different.? 6)even that bapt dates are different:) 7) in one the parents are married in the other they are not Andre dit Jean Paradis was born out of wedlock to the couple so they were not married and never married to each other. If those are to remain as such in PRDH maybe they should be hyperlink with an explanation. Please advise, Thank you (see below for the cert.)
