    1. Post-1901 Census:- A Canadian's Request List BEFORE An Election
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all the Members of Parliament of Canada:- All Canadians, plus many with Canadian ancestors, would really like to learn very important bills have been finalized prior to the much-publicized possible election. We sincerely hope, as ones elected to speak for all of us, all items will be finalized. BILL S-18:- Since March 1999 we know you have all been inundated with letters, faxes, emails requesting the release of our Canadian census records. Bill S-18 is an Act to amend the Statistics Act. Several motions were made and defeated, at least five bills made their way through the Senate and House of Commons, only to be trashed when the former prime minister prorogued Parliament -- they were never defeated. Bill S-18 was passed in the Senate 51-16 on April 19, following First and Second Readings, Committee and Report, finally Third Reading, debate and vote. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census First Reading of S-18 in the House of Commons was April 20 by The Hon. Tony Valeri for the Minister of Industry. The Canada Census Campaign Committee requests Bill S-18 be completed in ONE day. We feel Committee and Report are not needed as the following are in favor of Bill S-18:- Information Commissioner, Privacy Commissioner, Chief Statistician, National Archivist, Canada Census Campaign and Canadian Historical Association. We sincerely hope this can be accomplished, plus other important left-over items before any election may be called ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE PASSED:- BILL S-2:- This bill, introduced by John Reynolds, is an amendment to the Citizenship Act, is unanimously supported by the Senate of Canada, the Opposition parties and some Liberal Members of Parliament. It would give/restore Canadian citizenship to almost 100,000 men, women and children who lost this between 1947 and 1977. A great deal of this number, known as Lost Canadians, were children and as parents moved to another country for work, the children lost his/her Canadian citizenship. DNA -- In A Federal Database The DNA of all convicted criminals should be on file, taken as part of the legal procedure. This would be a protection of our privacy, not an invasion of the privacy of the criminal. We know of one female who will soon be released, may move, may change her name but is her DNA on file? It should be, as ones who know state she might commit another crime. It could be a "stand-alone" law, or simply added to Christopher's Law -- named for Brampton's young Christopher Stephenson who was molested and killed by a pedophile dropped into a neighbourhood without the local police being notified. Thus, our Canadian WISH LIST has three items:- 1. Bill S-18; 2. Bill S-2 and 3. A Canada-wide DNA federal database. All should be on a priority list to protect Canadians. Muriel M. It is little known about Joseph's family to my Canadaian ancestors. I never knew of my French Canadain Heritage until a few years ago, since my mother was adopted. Would like to find more 'cousins' from this line. I am especially looking for Joseph's 3 daughters, who lived past 1900. They were Marie Clothile Evangeline, known as Eva C. Beauchamp Thompson, Marie Eugenie 'Jenny' Guillemot, and Marie Antoinett Georgina Beauchamp Sheets, known as Anna. They were all in the US in the early 1900's and seemed to have 'disappeared'. Eva was my great grandmother and only had one child, her sisters had no children. Pat

Looking for the church records of his marriage, death & Jeanne-Marguerite Berube's birth, marriage & death record. Trying to find any record I can of them. Kay - The Plourde and Berube names are extensive in Riviere Ouelle. I'll give you what I can find, but be open minded when you see discrepancies between what you have and what is written in this book. 1. Post 1901 Census - Hansard extracts updated
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- I will add my Two Cents Worth!! The letters that have been posted to either Gordon or myself are few in comparison to the number on the CCC mail list, the Committee and others -- I have saved all sent to me. If many desiring census release sent a letter to his/her own MP, plus the ones suggested by Jeff Paul, there would be a great deal of reading material awaiting the Members of Parliament after their expense-paid vacation or week break. Also no BLUE remains in the Region of Peel! Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon A. Watts" <gordon_watts@telus.net> To: "Canada Census Campaign" <CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 1:36 PM Subject: Post 1901 Census - Hansard extracts updated Greetings All. Although somewhat belated, Hansard extracts for the final session of Third Reading of Bill S-18 in the Senate on 20 April 2005, and First Reading in the House of Commons on 21 April 2005, have been added to the Post 1901 Census Project website (at the URL following my signature). First Reading of the Bill in the House of commons entails no debate -- simply presentation of the Bill. The final session in the Senate, however, gives the recorded vote of those Senators present when Bill S-18 passed Third Reading by vote of 51-16. See how the Senators for your area voted on this important Census Bill. As soon as I have time, the Senators Scoreboard will be updated to reflect the positions of those Senators who voted on the Bill. An urgent reminder to All. It is imperative that everyone send messages to the leaders and house leaders of all federal political parties, urging them to fast-track and pass Bill S-18 before Parliament recesses for the summer, or an election is forced upon us. IF BILL S-18 IS NOT PASSED BEFORE THIS HAPPENS, WE ARE LOOKING AT STARTING OVER AGAIN - FOR THE FOURTH OR FIFTH TIME. It can be done if the Committee stage is bypassed and Second and Third Readings take place on the same day. All MPs have fax machines. Telephone numbers for those fax machines are listed on their Correspondence Logs accessible through the MP Scoreboard of the Post 1901 Census Project website. Those having fax capabilities might ensure that the party leaders and MPs have some reading material available on their return to Parliament this coming Monday. Happy Hunting. Gordon A.
