    1. Post-1901 Census:- Let's Hope S-18 is PASSED by Victoria Day
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all readers:- In 2005, The Year of the Veteran, it had been hoped Bill S-18 would be passed prior to VE-Day as a tribute to all veterans, especially those who served during World War One -- their family records are enumerated on the 1911 census. Queen Elizabeth is in Canada and there could be no better way to honor her ancestor, Queen Victoria than by fast-tracking S-18, as we look forward to the May 23rd holiday. Members of the Royal Family have served during war-time as did Queen Elizabeth II and her husband. Hopefully Parliament will still be active as Members of Parliament will be in his or her ridings for a scheduled break including Victoria Day. Bill S-18, a non-partisan government bill, An Act to Amend the Statistics Act, was scheduled for release June 1, 2003. Census records, 1911 to 2001, would be automatically released at 10-year intervals, 92 years after enumeration, with consent of Dr. Ivan P. Fellegi, Chief Statistician. He needs Bill S-18 passed to prepare the 2006 census papers. Descendants of World War One service personnel are hoping the 1911 census records will be released -- these contain family groupings of many who never returned, but buried overseas. Check http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm and send a request TODAY to your Member of Parliament -- also to others whom you feel may assist. Some politicians did spend a few hours paying tribute before and after VE-Day -- now it is time to finish the tribute by fast-tracking Bill S-18! Muriel M. 2. P. Smith
    3. This is one of my brick walls. I have seen Guillaume's name recorded as the following: Guillaume PETTITGREW Guillaume PETITGREW Guillaume PETTIGREW Guillaume PETITCROW Guillaume LEQUIPAGE Guillaume L'EQUIPAGE William PETITGREW Upon his death on 10 Mar 1831 at L'Isle-Verte, Rivière-du-Loup, Québec, Canada, Guillaume was noted as having been 73 years of age (source:Répertoire Des Décès et Sépultures de Isle-Verte (1783-1993), compiled by Jean-Claude Ouellet, published by the Société Généalogique de L'Est du Québec). This would have made the year of his birth about 1758. He was buried on 12 Mar 1831 at L'Isle-Verte, Rivière-du-Loup, Québec, Canada. His residence at the time of his marriage was Ile-de-Orléans. He was married at Saint-Laurence Catholic Church on 12 Nov 1799 to Françoise DUMAS, daughter of Alexis DUMAS and Françoise AUDET dit LAPOINTE. (sources: Mariages du Comté Rimoouski (1707-1925), Volume 3, page 170 and 171; Mariages de Île-de-Orléans; PRDH) He was recorded in the PRDH as having been a Pilot which I believe is a river navigator? I have very little information on his children: (source: Mariages du Comté Rimouski (1707-1925), Volume 3, pages 170-172.) By the way, the town called L'Acadie, where Jean-Joseph BEAUSOLEIL died and was buried, is in the County of St-Jean, Province of Quebec. It was so named because many Acadians settled there after the Grand Dérangement. But all of the ancestry of Jean-Joseph is Québecois back to France, not Acadian. On the other hand, Marie-Rose Gaudreau's parents are both Acadians. Good luck in your quest! Fr Owen Taggart

    2. Paul LeBlanc
    3. Dumas is probably not one of the Acadian names. It might be Dugas? BEAUSOLEIL is an Acadian dit name for Broussard. Could this be him? Jean Baptiste Brossard (Joseph Brossard and Ursule LeBlanc) bn.14 Jan 1742, bt. 14 Jan 1742 spo. Jean Baptiste LeBlanc and Marguerite Alin, sig. Joseph Broussard (s) (SGA-3, 13).
