    1. FOUND! Marriage of Joseph (dit St. Onge) Mtilly & Isabelle (dit Lavigne) Brodeur
    2. Patty Frazer
    3. To all those who helped with my Métilly marriage information -- thank you! The only one I was missing was the subject marriage. I did a little deducing by assuming that since I could not find the marriage in HIS parish and checked Beloeil since that is where she was supposedly from and voila! So, in case anyone else may need the information now or in the future: Joseph Métilly (in margin) Joseph Métilly dit St. Onge (in text) of St-Jean-Baptiste parish Father: Joseph Métilly dit St. Onge Mother: Marie Daunais dit Frenière Isabelle Lavigne (in margin) Isabelle Brodeur dit Lavigne (in text) of this parish Father: Jean-Baptiste Brodeur dit Lavigne Mother: Elisabeth Casavant dit Ladébuche(?) Date: 07 Jun 1825 Interesting note: First child, Perpétue Métilly, was born 28 Oct 1825 -- looks like Isabelle may have become pregnant, married in her parish and then moved to his parish before giving birth five months later. :) I have saved a copy of the marriage record if anyone else would need it. Thanks, again, for all your help! Patty --------------------------------- Get your own web address. Have a HUGE year through Yahoo! Small Business.

    2. Dear List could any one assist me, in the Drouin files would there be a specific area that people from Ireland might have come to live right around 1845. I only have record that my family relative who was a teacher but also in the Royal Irish Constabulary left Ireland in or around 1844 and went to Quebec city in Quebec but of course I cannot find record of a Quebec city in Quebec. Him, his wife and two sons settled there for about 6 years adding to their family then moving on to New York. Thank you for any help that can be given. 1. [QUEBEC] Sarrasin/Lanoix?
    2. Pam Harbison
    3. Hello Again Lister's, As most can tell from the past few postings, I am trying to connect and find my ggrandparents. I believe my Jean Baptiste Narcisse Sarrasin is the son of Jean Baptiste Hyppolite Sarrazin & Marguerite Payet from Portage, L'Assomption Quebec, Canada. I have yet been unable to locate the marriage to verify this, although I have looked and looked. I do not read, write or speak French and if it were not for the many generous people on this list helping me, I would not even have this much information. Now, I also have another request and I am hopeful someone could look for me or maybe explain something to me. I found a Marie Agathe Bourdon who married a Etienne Sarrazin in Montreal. I ask for assistance from someone if they could do a look up on this marriage and give me the names of the parents. Frances Lachance sent me some information as well as "Mokasyns" but not on this particular person. I looked in the PRDH and found the marriage along with Marie Agathe's parents & siblings, now to the question, My understanding is that the name "Sarrasin" has a dit name which is "DePelteau", and none other dit name is listed. Could someone please tell me why would Etienne Sarrasin be listed as Etienne Lanoix-Sarrasin? Could this name be a name I should be researching instead of the dit name? I am wondering if all the while I have been looking for Sarrasin I may should have been looking for Lanoix? Any help, suggestion, explanation will be most appreciated. It might be better to email me off list as I don't want to clog up the list with my personal questions, Thank You very much, Confused Lone Star Pam

    3. Hi Judith; At St Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Rivière-du-Loup, from Ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, 1621-1967: CAMERON, buried, Helen, by her maiden name Emerson, aged 36 years, wife of George Cameron, an Engineer of the Intercontinental Railway, died on the thirty first day of July and was buried on the second day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventy nine by me Ernest B. Willoughby King, Min. and Arthur Boulltice, Clerk. Witnesses: Captolar Cameron and Franciana Cameron. (They both signed) Same church, same source: CAMERON, buried, Mary Ellen, daughter of George Cameron and & Corelelia Emerson his wife, died aged fifteen years & three months on the Fifth day of April in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eighty one & was buried on the following day by me: R.C. Tamb, Officiating Minister. Witnesses: Captolar Cameron and George Cameron (they both signed) I couldn't find any reference to a St Bartolomew Church in Rivière-du-Loup using MapQuest. I also tried under St-Barthélemy and "Églises" without successs. It may not exist anymore as English speaking perople there might have all moved away. Nor could I find it under cemetries or cimetières. Frank ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: "Francis T. DUTREMBLE (Alexis & Marguerite LANGLAIS) Delphine PICARD (Pierre & Rosalie ST-PIERRE) Ste-Flavie, Rimouski, QC; February 27, 1854 Sorry I don't find either birth. Good luck. Dave Constantine in Boston [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Hi List, I've been searching for the birth of my G-G-Grandmother, Caroline Picard. She was the daughter of Pierre Picard and Rosalie Saint-Pierre. Caroline was said to be born in 1827. Her parents were married 13 January 1824 at Montmagny. I have found all of her siblings, except for Delphine, who were baptised at Montmagny. I have yet to find Delphine anywhere. Pierre Picard was from Berthier-en-Bas, and Rosalie Saint-Pierre was from Montmagny. Soooo, I've checked Drouin for the years 1824 and on at Montmagny, Berthier, and even at Saint Francois de la Riviere du Sud which is where Caroline's grandparents were from, I've checked under Destroismaisons in each of those places...And, if you put her name into Google, you get pages of Caroline Picard, the Cajun Queen! I can't find her anywhere! Caroline married at Sainte Luce sur Mer in 1845, to Octave Langlois, but the parish records are not old enough to cover 1827 data. I don't know if another pair of eyes would help me to locate Caroline's birth, or maybe someone has an idea that would help. Thanks so much for any ideas and suggestions. Paula

    3. Thanks so much to Alain and Mona for the help with the translations. It is very much appreciated! Thank You!! Pam Now another question: If anyone has access to the PRDH-or another source and could look up a marriage for me I would be in your debt. I found a marriage for a Joseph Sarasin to M. Josephe Bonne ( I think) writing is difficult to read. Could someone see if they may find the parents of this couple. They were married 1 Mar 1802 in Ste-Genevieve. This is all the information I have. Also a Pierre Sarrasin to Louise ?? married 29 Apr 1816 in (I think) Notre Dame. Then there is another one: Edouard Sarazin to Marie Brisebois on 24 April 1837 in Ste-Genevieve. I am trying to find my gggrand parents marriage so any information on these people would be extremely appreciated. Thank you for everyone who is always so willing to help. Many Thanks, LS Pam

    3. Looking for marriage and parents of: 1 - Joseph Métilly (possibly dit St. Onge) and Josephine Vincent before 1860, but probably not earlier than about 1845 (he was 22 in 1851 census and she was 21). NOTE: In 1851 they were living in St-Pie, but his second marriage January 30, 1860 took place at St-Césaire-de-Rouville. They are both listed as being from Beloeil and there are other Métilly families listed as being from St-Jean-Baptiste (assuming Rouville). 2 - Joseph Métilly (possibly dit St. Onge) (from St-Jean-Baptiste) and Elisabeth Brodeur (from Beloeil), probably around 1826 to 1833 and could be near any of these areas. NOTE: In 1851 they were living in St-Pie right next to above Joseph, and he is 45 and she is 47. Their oldest child listed, Christophe, is 18 years old and is listed as being from St-Pie. 3 - Felix St. Onge (may be Métilly) (from St-Jean-Baptiste) and Louise Desgrés (from Beloeil), probably around 1826 to 1833 and near any of these areas. NOTE: In 1851 they were living in St-Pie a short distance form the above two Joseph Métilly families and both Felix and 2nd Joseph above are listed as being 45, Louise is listed as also being 45). Their children are born in either St-Pie or St-Jean-Baptiste - seems they moved back and forth or were visting during pregancies - the oldest is Jean-Baptiste and is 19. 4 - Francois(?) Fortier (from St-Simon) and Louise St. Onge (may be Métilly) (from St-Jean-Baptiste) probably between 1844 and 1850 in any of these areas. NOTE: In 1851 they were living in St-Pie next door to Felix and are both 25 years old with their oldest child being Louise, 3 years old, being born in St-Pie. I am trying to tie these families together and then to my St. Onge family and beyond but need a kick-start. Thanks! Patty --------------------------------- TV dinner still cooling?
