    3. Years ago I bought many of the Family Tree Maker Disk of the Quaker Records, that were read through the FTM program.  Is their any way to still read these disk, I am very disappointed I can not use these.  It was like reading  actual books.

    3. Are you saying that you now run a recent release of FTM and it won't open those files? I am still using FTM 8.0 (it does what I want) and that opens the old FTM CDs. I don't know if the latest versions support them or not. If you are a registered owner of FTM; contact them and ask for help. Or, are you now using a different program instead of FTM and therefore can't open those files? If that's the case then you would have troubles. Yes, they are like very good scans of books. When those CDs were first introduced a 'file reader' CD was often included with the order. So, people who purchased the product could view them directly through FTM or with the reader. If you can get an older version of FTM, or a copy of the reader, it may be your answer. However, they may not run with your current operating system. (I've heard that some older programs won't run under the newest operating systems.) ? ? ? Allen E. 3. I had the same problem. I will send you some of the answers that I received via the Family Tree Mail list when I asked that list. I find myself using the Hinshaw Encyclopedia via ancestry.com.....it is not quite as user friendly as the disc was, but I haven't taken the time to use the answers that I received to get my disc working again on my new PC. Let me know if any of these ideas work for you. marsha moses On Oct 28, 2012, at 10:40 AM, Carroll <eccarroll@embarqmail.com> wrote: > > > Years ago I bought many of the Family Tree Maker Disk of the Quaker Records, that were read through the FTM program. > > Is their any way to still read these disk, I am very disappointed I can not use these.
