    3. Simply put, there is none. Apparently she never had a portrait done. Tom Hamm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor W. I am searching for an authenitcated image of Margaret Fell (1614-1702, an early convert of George Fox to Quakerism, and susequently his wife. Of course that was long before photography was invented. One would think that as the wife of a prominent judge, Thomas Fell, her first husband, that a portrait would be available. I have inquired at several Quaker historical libraries to no avail. Thanks to anyone who knows of one . Eleanor Helper.

    3. Tom, are you familiar with this portrait? I spotted it on Flickr. It's part of someone's photo album from a 2007 trip to Swarthmoor Hall, and apparently they thought it was Margaret. http://www.flickr.com/photos/buffaloquaker/525980007/in/set-72157600299229684/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/buffaloquaker/525889250/in/set-72157600299229684/ Margaret is also identified as appearing in this engraving on the French Wikipedia page for Margaret Fell. The image does not appear on her page in English, which makes me wonder whether it was determined to be incorrectly identified and therefore removed. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:FoxRefusingOath-A.jpg On Wed, Oct 3, 2012 at 6:19 PM, Thomas Hamm <tomh@earlham.edu> wrote: > Simply put, there is none. 3. This painting by John Pettie does depict George Fox and Margaret Fell but it's from the mid 19th century. Margaret is also identified as appearing in this engraving on the French > Wikipedia page for Margaret Fell.
