    1. [Q-R] Help with records of Westland MM in Washington County, PA

    3. I hope someone can help me find an obscure Westland record and possibly more for the same family. On familysearch.com I found a record that documented the marriage of Robert Campbell (1798 - 1828) and Jemima Turney (1802 - 1885) at Westland around 1830. The only source given was the FamilySearch International Genealogical Index, batch 5025653, Source Call No. 1553811. Also recorded is a birth record for Robert Campbell in 1798 at Westland and the birth of each of their children. Later these records disappeared from familysearch.com but I thought that I would be able to find more details if I found the Westland records since this was surely their original source. I found a couple places that seemed to have Westland records but I couldn't find any records for Robert or Jemima. Can anyone recommend where I can find the original westland records for these people? Is anyone more familiar with the Westland PA records and might be able to advise me about where to look? THANKS in advance for any advice. Elizabeth Garland

    3. Elizabeth Garland, STANDARD DISCLAIMER: I do no people genealogy, only meeting genealogy. Thus I have no information on Robert Campbell or Jemima Turney. I do know something of the records. Westland Monthly Meeting suffered both the 1828 Orthodox-Hicksite separation and the 1854 Gurneyite-Wilburite separation among the Orthodox. There was thus three different branches of Westland MM https://www.quakermeetings.com/Plone/search_display?MeetingName=Westland&Sta teOrProvince=Penn [Many e-mail servers insert a line break or return in long URLs like this one, and one must manually edit the link to remove the break before clicking through to the desired site.] and the records of Westland MM are in three different depositories. (1) The Ohio Y.M. Hicksite Executive Committee decided to deposit all local-meeting records at Friends Historical Library in Swarthmore when it topped meeting as a yearly meeting: http://www.swarthmore.edu/library/friends/RG2/ohioym.xml#series40 and the Wilburite Salem Quarterly Meeting deposited Westland MM records there: http://www.swarthmore.edu/library/friends/RG2/ohioym.xml#series42 Finally, it appears the Gurneyite records were given to the Hicksites or the Wilburite and were deposited at FHL instead of being taken to the Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region archives at Malone: http://www.swarthmore.edu/library/friends/RG2/ohioym.xml#series41 When I assembled _Monthly Meetings in North America: A Quaker Index_ in the early 1990s, the Mormons had not microfilmed any of the Westland MM records, so there is no LDS reel number listed for any branch. The absence of scanned copies should be remedied when Ancestry.com completes its Quaker digitalization project by about January 2013. Tom Hill Thomas C. 1. [Q-R] Ohio Yearly Meeting historic website
    2. Seth Hinshaw
    3. Hi everyone - this is an update on the historic website for Ohio Yearly Meeting. The URL is www.quaker-chronicle.info. The site is not strictly an Ohio YM website, but little has been entered for other YMs at this time.  I have mentioned this website before, but the information is being increasingly enhanced so I am mentioning it again.  The latest change is an update to the search function. I now have a page listing all surnames in the database; clicking on a surname brings up all people in the database with that surname. Women are indexed under their maiden name and any married names.  The navigation button on the top right leads to the draft pages of the Ohio YM bicentennial booklet. These draft pages posted on the site have not been updated to reflect changes made between the first draft and the final, printed version.  The website still has a few glitches that appear on Internet Explorer that need to be worked out.  So if any of you have information on ancestors in Ohio YM, certainly let me know.
