    1. [Q-R] Pennsylvania Militia
    2. I thought ya'll would be interested to here this. There has been a lot of speculation whether any of the Quaker Cook's served in the American Revolution. Well, I found evidence/proof that Jesse Cook (1744-1818) of Warrington twp., York Co., Pa., the grandson of Peter Cooke & Elinor Norman, was in the Pennsylvania Militia in 1778. Henry James Young in 1935 compiled lists of the men from York Co., Pa., who served in the Pennsylvania Militia. Listed are many Cook's from Warrington and Monoghan (now Carroll & Franklin twp.) townships. Almost all of the Cook's listed appear to be from the Quaker Cook family. York County, Pennsylvania in the American Revolution: A Source Book" Black Series, 1935 - Compiled by Henry James Young and Others I emailed my local SAR chapter asking if Young's lists are recognized as a source and I sent the following listing: "Jese Cook, Warrington Township (p. 499) First Battalion of York County Militia, 5th Company, 7th Class, April 11, 1778." SAR replied that I have a good start, but can I prove my relation... Yes! Bob Cooke
