Abigail's maiden name was Moody, according to Sylvanus J. Macy's Genealogy of the Macy Family (1868), p. 129. It shows Joseph Leonard, son of John Leonard and Abigail Moody, born in Chester Co., Pa., Jan. 21, 1765, married Feb. 22, 1787, in Guilford Co., NC, Phebe Macy, daughter of Henry and Sarah (Swain) Macy. Sylvanus is to be praised for including the names of the parents of Macy spouses.
