Marilyn, Dan, Richard and others researching this area- I, too, am descended from Aaron Coppock (through his daughter, Miriam, who married Richard Jones). I don't have all my files about Aaron at hand right now, but following are my notes from my Brother's Keeper record for him (some of which is also quoted by Dan and some of which may be myth!): Issued certificate of removal upon immigration from Pownall Fee, Cheshire, dated 23 3M 1701. Will dated & proved 1726. Per "Collection of Memorials concerning Divers Deceased Ministers and Others of the People Called Quakers...," he "was concerned to exhort Friends to a life of self denial, watchfulness and prayer.... he did in great sincerity zeal and innocence." Family legend has it that his prayer book, now lost, stated in his handwriting "We are the Clan MacDonell of Keppoch and our clan cry is God & St. Andrew." Name later changed to Ceapach (Gaelic form of Coppock). Gary Hawley reports the first indication that he had become a Quaker was a fine for failure to pay tithes, paid in corn, in 1695. Quotation about his character, above, also found in The Friend (Philadelphia, 1856 v.29 p.68) per Wayne Dunham Stout, Ancestors & Descendants of Jehu Cox (self published, Salt Lake City, 1957, p.13). Info taken from The Friend also states he had been engaged in the ministry of the Gospel about 7 years at time of his death. Another relative was able to obtain a copy of the register that recorded Aaron's birth. As I recall, it was somewhat confusing....there may have been 2 or more of the same name born very close to each other.
