According to a pamphlet by S.A. Zielinski titled "The Story of the Farnham Meeting; A Quaker Meeting in Allen's Corner", Abner Beede, son of Daniel, came to East Farnham in 1820. The Farnham meeting was formed from member of the Ferrisburg MM that moved north and settled in Allen's Corner, Quebec, Canada. This was about 15 miles north of the Vermont border, about 75 miles from Ferrisburg. This migration started in about 1814, and in 1820, petitioned Ferrisburg for meeting for worship, became an Indulged Meeting in 1822, a Preparative Meeting in 1826, and a Monthly Meeting in 1842. Zielinski has Daniel born in 1771 and died in 1883, the same as you. However, he lists Daniel's wife as Lydia Bull (1772-1817), not Hoag. He does not mention when Daniel, Lydia, and their other children arrived in Allen's Corner, but he does have them there at some time. Children of Daniel and Lydia were Abner H. (1799-1882), Cynthia (1802-1848), and Tamzina (1808-1887). It is interesting to note that Abner had a son Moses H. Beede. Zielinski mentions a Moses H. Beede, born in Ferrisburg in 1795, but doesn't know where to place him genealogically. One thing to keep in mind in looking at these records is that since the Farnham meeting didn't become a monthly meeting until 1842, all of the records (birth, marriage, death) are listed as though they were in Ferrisburg; where they physically resided is not known. The Census of Brome County, Quebec can help in this regard. Also, Abner, Cynthia, and Tamzina are all buried in Brome County. A good site to use in this regard is the Quebec and Estern Counties Resource Page of Marlene Simmons: http://simmons.b2b2c.ca/ One other thing to keep in mind is that I have found Zielinski in error in tracing my own Knowles line in the Farnham meeting, and would suggest that you correlate anything mentioned above by him with other sources. In 1828 the New York Yearly Meeting took a census of all of their members, including all their children. I don't have access to this document, but it should list all of the children of Moses H. Beede that were born as of 1828, since the Ferrisburg MM was part of the NYYM. Also, the minutes of the Ferrisburg MM list all of their members as of 1828 (including all members in the Farnham area). Apparently this was the census that they forwarded to the yearly meeting. Both of these records are available from the Family History Library. Brad Knowles > > Subject: > Moses H. Brad, Thank you for this information. It is very helpful. I have located the FHL film number for the "list of the members of the New York Yearly Meeting at the time of the Separation of 1828" and will be ordering the film tomorrow. If you are interested in the information I have on some of the Quaker families in Brome County, Quebec, please visit http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nvjack/beede/bedees_in_quebec.htm Also, if you are interested in the information I have on Daniel Beede and Lydia Hoag and descendants, visit http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nvjack/beede/data/b4897.htm#P4897 I believe it corrects some of Zielinski's errors :-) Best regards, Jack -----Original Message----- From: Brad and Sheila Knowles [mailto:bnknowles@charter.net] Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 9:00 AM To: QUAKER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Q-R] Re: Moses H.
