I would appreciate any help. > Quoting from the 1995 Randolph Co. History book, p. 490-- "John & Jemima's youngest son Thomas (June 20, 1857-Dec. 30, 1889) and his wife Lulu Patterson (May 10, 1859-Feb 3, 1949) m. Aug 4, 1878 also had three sons. Thomas and his youngest son, Omer, d. of typhoid fever within a few hours of each other and were buried in the same coffin." There are 2 paragraphs preceding that about the John's parents, Thomas & Rebeckah Thornburg Cox, and is followed information on descendants of John & Lulu's oldest son, Garfield Cox. The author of the bio. of this family is identified and I presume is a descendantof this line. If you would like a photocopy of this page, contact me directly with your address and I'll mail it to you. I also have some older Randolph Co. history books. They might be mentioned in them, too--I didn't take time to look right now. Joyce Joyce Overman Bowman Indianapolis, IN
I've been searching for the death date of John Renshaw (Renshawe and other variations) for quite some time. Here is what I know. John Renshaw married Mary Stacy in 1686. Their marriage is recorded in Burlington New Jersey marriage records. John Renshaw b. around 1686 (probable son of the above)d.1767 was married to Elizabeth Newcomb in 1708. d.1774 Their banns were published in the Philadelphia monthly meeting records. John Renshaw of Derbyshire England, (a good candidate for the father of John that married Mary Stacy) mentions in his will.. proved 1706... John Renshaw, his grandson, and son of his now deceased son, John, is living in New Jersey. So, the John Renshaw death date I'm looking for is for the John Renshaw that married Mary Stacy. I have the full handwritten will of John Renshaw of Derbyshire, but here is the abstract with the tantalizing bit highlighted 23 Sept', 1704.Will of John Renshaw of Birkes, in par of Whitwell, com. Derby, devises lands in Whitwell and in Ratcliffe, in par. of Worksop; com. Notts, mentions his grandsons John Renshaw, eldest son, and Thomas and William, other sons of his son William; daughter Philadelphia, wife of James Swift; sons Joseph, and Thomas; daughter Ruth, wife of William Pell ; grandchildren Mary, Ann, Bridget, William, and Philadelphia, children of son William; grandson John, son of son John Renshaw deceased, now in New Jersey. Codicil dated 18 Oft`, 1705, mentions daughter Kent and Mary, wife of son William. Proved 1706. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
