Jemima was the daughter of Jesse and Ann/Anna (Clearwater) Wright. I knew a great-granddaughter of Jemima who was born in 1895, Mary Cronk, and she remembered that her grandmother Rebecca (Walden) Kern was a first cousin of the children of Joel Wright (1817-1895), another child of Jesse and Ann. We have a photograph of Ann (Clearwater) Wright here at Earlham. It was published in the Indiana Magazine of History in June 1991 in an article on Quakers and the antislavery movement. The loss of the women's minutes of New Hope Monthly Meeting in Greene County, Tenn., means that there is no record of Jemima in Hinshaw's abstracts. She married out of meeting, but apparently kept or regained her membership. Jemima was received from New Hope at Spiceland MM in Henry Co., Ind., in 1839. This is in the three-year period (1837-1840) when Duck Creek was laid down and its members attached to Spiceland. In 1850 the Waldens were in Howard County, Indiana.
