I am seeking info from the Revolutionary War timeframe for JOHNSON and STEWART families in Guilford Co., NC. Specifically, I am lookinf for the parents of Eleanor JOHNSON, named in her grandfather's Will, dated 1789. She is named as "I leave to my grandaughter Elenor JOHNSON..." by Thomas MAJOR, of the Alamance Congregation, Guilford County, NC, 1789. He also names his "son by law George STEWART." I am told that both the STEWART and the JOHNSON families in this area of Guilford Co. were Quakers. On an early map, both of these families lived in the New Garden area of Guilford Co. I believe George STEWART married either Mary or Martha MAJOR, as they are shown in early land records. I don't know which MAJOR daughter married a Mr. JOHNSON and had Eleanor. Thank you for your help.
