    3. A couple of months ago, I was working on early Quakers in southern VA and found John and other Lawrences listed at this website: Sallys Family Place" at www.sallysfamilyplace.com/Rayner/lawrenj.htm. Have you found this site? A grandaughter of Johns, Jane Exum, married an Outland, and the Outland family is of interest to me. Do you have information about the Outlands? John had a father and a brother named Robert Lawrence, she says. I see in Jay Worralls history of "The Friendly Virginians; Americas First Quakers" (1994) that a Robert Lawrence was a Justice in Nansemond Co, but resigned, along with two others, in 1660 when Virginias anti-Quaker laws went into effect. Not long after, another Friend wrote of being arrested at a Quaker meeting held at Robert Lawrences home. (see pp.26, 32) Date: Thu, 2 Dec 2004 From: Ledvenport@aol.com Subject: The Lawrence Family Hello! I've been lurking for a while, but would like to post a question. On my father's mother's side, going quite far back, I have a Quaker ancestor named John Lawrence, born about 1643 in Lawne Creek Parish, James City County, Virginia, and died before Jan 1696 in Nansemond County, Virginia, Formed 1643 (Now City Of Suffolk). (This info is from the World Connect/Roots Web page (http:// worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=jmljr&id =I79545) , which was posted by a distant relative of mine, Jesse Lawrence. Does anyone have any other information on John Lawrence and his descendants? Many thanks! Liz Davenport Upland, CA
